Cheerleader Camp (1988) Reviews

Cheerleader Camp (1988)
Member Rating:
Cheerleader Camp, a routine teen slasher film, follows the adventures of a group of teenage girls who go away to a cheerleader camp for the summer. Alison Betsy Russell, one of the group, is having nightmares. Brent, her boyfriend, has followed her to the camp but really seems more interested in the other girls. When those girls are found murdered, Alison believes she may be the killer. This routine slasher film follows the established formula with lots of attractive young women being killed in bloody and inventive ways and while only average, Cheerleader Camp, also released as Bloody Pom Poms, will please lovers of the genre. ~ Linda Rasmussen, Rovi

You have to be a real fan of the 80's horror genre to get any enjoyment here. There's a ton of cheese and bad acting for sure, but will please some gore hounds. The script is nothing new. Actually you have to kinda have to wonder if it was meant to be a spoof.

This was not a bad slasher flick and indeed was a slasher flick. But it also was a classic tale of whodunit. Good for the slasher genre better than expected.

A young Betsy "creepy eyes" Russell from the "Saw" movies in this one. Pretty bad. Was hoping the killer wouldn''t be the most obvious suspect here, but it was.

This is a slasher film that was made in the late 80's which as you know was when the genre was declining. Pretty good. you have to view a film like this with low expectations as far as gore. Think of it this was if you see a killer approaching his victim with a weapon and don't expect it to be gory the film is more enjoyable because if they don't show it you're less pissed and if they do show it you appreciate it a whole lot more. I did this when the girl got the shears threw her head and it was awesome. Aside from that it's pretty much a bunch of kids who decided to make a slaher movie and make some dough and have some laughs and by the way it's supposed to be funny.

This one was So-so. Worth watching once. A lot of victims to be picked off one by one which made it entertaining. Pretty bad acting. Lead male is supposed to be in highschool and has a receding hairline?? Gets pretty good toward the end. Some kills were stupid like one character sits in front of a tree and screams for like 15 seconds watching a van coming toward her to crush her but doesn't bother trying to move to avoid being killed, funny.

I remember watching this movie as a child and loved it. When I found out that they had it on DVD, I was very excited. I wasnt as impressed as an adult. I am a fan of 80's horror flix, but for some reason this film didnt do it for me.

Blood: 3 1/2 Cheese Factor: 5 Acting: 2 Overall: 3 1/2 WARNING: within the first 7 minutes you we have to witness a very disturbing mooning by the nastiest tush we'll ever have to witness. This movie has a VERY slow begining but in the second half it picks up and turns out to actually be an okay movie in the tradition on Sleepaway Camp and Friday the 13th, also this film comes with a 'twist' ending, mind you....this was made in the 80s. So if you like cheest camp horrors, check this out!

One of the lower budget movies at the time to come out in the 80's that wasn't too bad. Some good blood splatter, alright death scenes, and not to mention T & A. I liked it.
