Michael Rooker stars in Hypothermia, a monster film about two feuding families who must team up when a creature unearths itself at the remote ice fishing location they're both visiting. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi
The monster looked like a dude in a wet suit with flippers and then a cheap rubber fish mask. So pathetic and the acting too. With the previews at the start of the disk, it all ends after just 72 minutes. A major waste!
The most ridiculous looking monster in any movie ever. A ten year old could have made up a better and scarier monster! What a shame, this could have been a decent movie.
The best thing about this movie is Michael Rooker, who always brings an edgy intensity to his roles. Surprisingly, in this movie he's somewhat toned down as a family man who's trying to protect them from a predator from beneath the ice. This is a concept which has been used time and time again in the horror genre but it's inadequately played out here, probably because of budget reasons. The short running time and the unsatisfying end leads me to think they needed to wrap things up before the money ran out. They really skimped on the creature effects, unfortunately :(
All I can say is you've got to be kidding. This childish attempt at an attack "fish-man" was hilarious and sad at the same time to think this guy who is now on the walking dead is so bad in this not even a D grade movie. wow who ever produced this needs to STOP making movies, the thing is under the ice and looks nothing like the fish man that attacks.. too funny. skip this one peeps its not worth the time, money or gas to go rent.
The story line had a great direction. Cold, chilly, out in the woods, on frozen ice...great elements for a scary movie to watch in the winter. UNTIL...the thing showed up. My child could've made up a better costume. It ruined what could've been a potentially good horro flick. But, I overlooked it and there were some scenes where I jumped and some where I muted the sound. A good movie but a bit slow and the creature was pathetic. Can you say ill fitting rubber suit with webbed feet and hands?
TOTAL GARBAGE!!!! My recommendation is to shy away from all films which state "NOT RATED"...there's a good reason they weren't rated, I think. lol///nobody could sit through the movie long enough to rate it///'just kidding"...although I agree with Tim M 's review almost entirely....The film's entire concept is old and tired. I agree that $$$ was certainly an issue too. What I do not agree with is Tim's generous 2.5 rating//LOL//personally...I think a.5 is more appropriate.
First off, the monster in this movie is completely unbelieveable. It's a real shame the moster is so cheesy, or this could have been a great horror movie. It's the only thing lacking, really.
Michael Rooker gives an outstanding performance in this movie. Most of the actors do, in fact.
Like I said, the cheesy-ness of the monster ruins it.
