An extreme vacation turns terrifying when a group of friends visit the Chernobyl disaster site, and learn that some nightmares never die. Conceived and produced by Paranormal Activity's Oren Peli, Chernobyl Diaries gets underway as six thrill-seeking tourists hire a fearless tour guide, and travel to the abandoned Ukrainian city of Pripyat. Back when the Chernobyl nuclear reactor was up and running, Pripyat was the place the workers called home. But 25 years after one of the worst power-plant accidents in history, the city serves as an eerily silent testament to the dangers of nuclear power. Later, after getting unexpectedly stranded in Pripyat, the tourists and their guide realize they are being hunted. Now the harder they try to flee, the faster their numbers dwindle until only a few are left standing. Only then will the unspeakable terror that stalks these deserted streets finally emerge from the shadows to launch one last relentless, terrifying attack. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This move could have been really good. It had all the elements of a good story. Acting was natural. It just lost something in the story.

Was expecting more from the guy behind "Paranormal Activity". But no, what we get is a pseudo-handicam style horror piece, except that the handicam this time around is from an omniscient point of view and not a "real" handicam. As such, the film looks more like a movie than say PA or Blair Witch. Unfortunately, there are no characters, no tension, and a very generic plot. Yawn. There is ONE surprising scene that occurs in the movie's second act when they first arrive in Chernobyl, but that's it.

This movie was good and you shouldn't be sorry if you rent it. It has some scary parts and keeps you wondering what is going to happen next.

Not what I expected. I was expecting it to be a little better. Wasn't the worst movie but it wasn't the best. Could have signed better actors and had a better script. Worth the rent if you are into thrillers.

Thought it was a ghost story. It is actually more of a mutant monster chasing tourists movie. Think The Hills Have Eyes in Russia. But overall not bad. A good time killer when nothing else is on.

Scripted strictly for the brain dead among you. To illustrate my point I will describe one scene in the movie. This is not really a spoiler since this whole thing is a stinker. It was at this 30 minute point that I decided I was too intelligent to watch this movie. Trapped in a van with some type of beast attacking (dog, wolf, hybrid) one of our geniuses decides the best method of counter attack it to beat the window with a crowbar. This all happened after one of the other geniuses decided to leave the van alone at night and after another of the geniuses decided to go find him. All this took place in the first 30 minutes which explains why I only saw 30 minutes of this movie. There will be those of you who scoff and think "it can't be that bad". It is, trust me. The only reason I gave it one star was because the blond had nice breast. See how low you have to go to find any redeeming value in this waste of celluloid.

One-stop shopping for radiation-induced cannaballistic zombie medical experiments gone wrong, in a foreign country. Seen it before, just not sure if it was all in the same movie before!

Incredibly routine horror flick is nothing more than a familiar exercise on who survives and who doesn't, enough to give Chernobyl a bad name.
