Inspired by actual events, writer/director Craig Zobel's sophomore feature Compliance examines the complex hierarchy of authority through the experiences of a teenage fast-food restaurant clerk who falls victim to a twisted practical joke. Becky (Dreama Walker) is doing her best to get through another tough shift when a man claiming to be a police officer calls to speak with her stressed-out manager Sandra (Ann Dowd). According to the man on the phone, Becky has just stolen money from a customer, and likely still has the cash on her person. When Becky denies any wrongdoing, the man on the phone insists that Sandra detain the frightened girl in the back room of the restaurant, an action that sets into motion a shocking sequence of events. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Turned the movie off after about 20 minutes. Who would call someone on the phone and say they are police and ask for a search of a person (over the phone). Dumb movie that only a dumb person will believe and watch.

It's hard to believe this movie is based on true events for the simple fact : who would actually do those things to someone and think it is the right thing to do or that they HAVE TO even if you were instructed to do so by a real COP?? The girl who plays the victim, Becky (Dreama Walker) wow her acting is soooo bad! Not one part of her acting made her believable and she put the bricks to a flick that was already a B rate. As for Ann Dowd...she reminded me in a way of Kathy Bates. She played the part of a stunned and naive restaurant manager quite well but still didn't save the flick by any means. The big "dramatic" ending with the cops made me chuckle...as phony as the rest of it.

Is a simple setting, great script and amazing how it could have happened 30 times. It is not what you might expect but is worth the time

Absolutely the dumbest movie Ive ever seen. Who could believe a phone caller and end up sexaully assaulting a girl because they felt he forced them to. If the girl wasnt naked the whole movie I would have turned it off. LOL

That was such a waste of time. Okay, so it's based on fact...give it 5 minutes on the news or film a documentary and present it as such. This took 90 minutes to tell the viewers something that could be told in 5. There wasn't enough story to make a movie.

I agree with Debbis S. I just can't believe the total stupidity of all those people who worked in that restaurant and the manager's boyfriend. Could people really be that dumb to fall for something like this? Do they not know the law? No one asked the "cop" to come in and show his ID? No female cop to perform a body, much less a cavety search on a woman? This movie can't even be loosely based on true events.
