An aging thief with a fading memory finds his love for larceny reinvigorated after receiving a companion robot from his concerned son in this tender sci-fi comedy-drama starring Academy Award nominee Frank Langella. Frank (Langella) is a former criminal living out his twilight years in quiet solitude. Though frequent trips to the local library keep him physically active and mentally stimulated, there's little question that his memory isn't what it used to be, and lately his grown children have begun to express concern over the fact that he lives alone. Bestowed a caretaker robot capable of offering engaging interaction and tending to basic household chores, Frank at first resents his android helper. But in time he lets his guard down and begins to actually enjoy the companionship of his new domestic partner. Later, when the future of the local library is threatened, Frank falls back into his old ways and discovers that his robot also doubles as a competent criminal sidekick. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

R and F explores the convergence of technology and the human condition. An old ex-con who's slipping into Alzheimer's gets a robot assistant named Robot. It turns out Frank used to be quite the criminal. Will Robot help him back into the game? My kind of movie, my kind of actors but it fell a little flat for me. possibly repeated viewing would change my opinion. I will say this - one of the most subtle and *possible* sci-fi movies ever made.

The arrival of a new Frank Langella film is a reason for me to rejoice. While his "Starting Out in the Evening" remains my favorite, "Robot and Frank" plays out in an unusual way. It is weird, funny and poignant. The ending, which I will not reveal here, has a surprising twist. Don't miss Frank and his robot.

I'm a sucker for a heist movie. The Alzheimer's and robot twist are a good blend. Not great but kind of good and I liked the players.

Good story, well acted and directed. Underlying the humor is the very serious subject of memory loss coming with old age.

What impressed memost about this film was Frank Langella. He is a superb actor and I so enjoy watching him at his craft (as opposed to Liv Tyler whose performance I thought gave a lot to be desired.). The idea of the movie is good, but the final product here is very mediocre. There are some flaws in the story that bothered me. However, given the strength of Langella's performace, it is worthwhile seeing.
