Steve Carell and Keira Knightley star in this apocalyptic comedy following two neighbors who set out for one last road trip after learning that a massive asteroid will wipe out all life on Earth in just three weeks. Dodge (Carell) and Penny (Knightly) are both having a very bad day. Shell-shocked after hearing that the last hope of destroying the massive asteroid on a collision course with Earth has failed, Dodge watches helplessly as his wife bounds out of their car and vanishes into the night. Later, as the now-reluctant loner ponders what to do with his remaining time on the doomed planet, sobbing waif Penny appears at his window lamenting her breakup with self-centered boyfriend Owen. When the sun rises the following morning, the two neighbors who had barely exchanged passing glances in the hallway have forged a tenuous yet very real connection. Tensions rise, however, when Dodge learns that Penny inadvertently received an inviting love letter from the ex he's always loved, and that she failed to give it to him before all of mankind was doomed to a catastrophic fate. When Dodge announces a plan to reconnect with his ex while he still has the time, guilt-ridden Penny vows to help him accomplish his goal at all costs. But the more time this mismatched pair spend on the road together, the more their journey takes on a new meaning -- one that neither could have ever seen coming, but which both sense was the way things were meant to be. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Definitely NOT a comedy as advertised and I thought Steve Carell was excellent in a dramatic role.

This is one of those movies that will be a classic 20 years from now. It's a comedic take on love, life and the end of the world. Very subtle, funny, witty, well acted and poignant film. This one is worth repeat viewings. Very cool music soundtrack. Even if it's the end of the world and your time is limited this film is worth viewing.

pretty entertaining, date night-type of movie. steve and keira had some real good chemistry going on. a couple of pleasant surprises as far as actors making appearances as supporting cast. definitely worth renting!

Odd little movie. Carell's face is a book. I think Keira was miscast...but, that being said, she does a decent job. In light of Sandy taking the East Coast...this movie is relevant....without that pesky end of the world scenario.

This movie makes you think about time wasted or the things that are not necessary if it all comes down to it..... also a really good love story.

I loved this movie because it had all the elements that move me and Keira made you fall for her.........the movie really kicks in more than halfway through with a romantic story that becomes real.....the beginning was good, but it seemed to be a different movie all together at first....I didn't expect this movie to be that good, and I guess that's what I liked about it....it slowly pulls you in and tugs at the heart strings....i watched it twice and will watch it again.....I never watch movies more than once

I like this movie, although it wasn't especially funny. Also, Carell was kind of invisible. He was able to hold the role, but really it was Kiera Knightly who made it fun to watch. Normally Carell is a lot better, although he's usually doing comedy instead of drama. Still he wasn't bad. It's a breath of fresh air in the apocalyptic genre though, where it normally seems requisite for everyone to eat each others flesh/brains and be as nasty as possible to one another.

This movie was okay and had an interesting premise, but it was also really low budget, and it was obvious in watching it. A meteor is going to hit the Earth in a couple weeks time, so one guy tries to find his lost love before it's too late. It's just kind of too bad we never see it in the sky or anything at all, because we just have to go by the characters' word on it, and there's never a sense of "impending doom" ever felt throughout the movie, which makes the rest of the plot feel weak. Just seeing it glow in the daytime sky would've added more drama and sense of urgency in the film. It never really feels like the world's ever going to end, so nothing feels that important. It's worth watching on TV or cable if it ever comes on, but I'm not sure if you'd want to rent it. It was kinda dissapointing. (Oh, and SPOILER: The world does end, in the end.)
