Pretty good movie, you men out there will like it. The times were hard back then and people had to do what they had to do to make it during the depression. Basically three misfits trying to make it without a mother and a father. Lots of violence, and true brotherly love. Rent it! Was this review helpful? Yes

Wonderful all the way around. The acting seriously brought the film to life. It drawled you in the story. The heart felt emotion and at times the lack of emotion was fantastic! Cave's collaboration with Hillcoat on The Proposition, was dynamite! At least Guy Pearce and Tom Hardy are receiving credit as top-notch talent. Lawless though is too predictable and limited charactor study. It didn't shed neccessary light on brothers' development. The viewer has only stereo-typical southern back-woods rebel-thing to reflect upon. It's not enough. Look to Sayle's Matewon, Coen's Miller's Crossing, or Mendes' Road to Predetion instead. Just too many contridictions-distractions: what appeal was there for Maggie to fall for Forrest, particularly after being sexually assualted in his store; how is that Pearce's charactor and Chastian's charactor both arrive from Chicago (he's seen her); would Jack move so far away from his brothers' values; where in neighboring Roanoke, VA would Jack purchase custom clothes, or purchase that kind of car during The Depression; would Jack really take his love interest to the stills.
