Kevin Sorbo, Christopher Lambert, and Melissa Ordway star in The Sword and the Sorcerer director Albert Pyun's imaginative fantasy adventure following a determined princess on her quest to defeat an infernal enchantress with the help of a powerful warrior. During the course of their arduous crusade, the brave warriors battle mythical creatures, and make a shocking discovery about the past. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I rented this because I recently watched a 1998 sword and sandals movie with Zorbo that was on On Demand free movies. It was actually pretty good. But this movie was terrible. And why were all the main stars women? Young women at that. I figured Michael Pare and Zorbo funded this movie so they could get over with all the young hot chicks who are in it. Old guys with money will do anything! Good luck guys, I hope it paid off for you. But don't expect me to rent another movie that you guys are in.
Terrible movie. I was tempted to tell the clerk that they should burn the disk. I only saw the first awful 5 minutes of it, but my wife and teenage sons said it got no better after that.
How does this have two stars!?!? This has to be the worst movie ever made. At least Planet 9 made you laugh (even though it wasn't supposed to!) But this is truly bad. Could get through the whole thing. It was just too painful.
Oh come on......it wasn't that bad. If you're going to rent an Albert Pyun flick, then you should know what to expect. This is actually not that bad a follow up to Pyun's 80's sword and sorcery flick "Sword and the sorcerer". Yes, some of the FX was cheesy, the acting was a tad over the top, but it was OK. Don't rent an Albert Pyun flick expecting stellar performaces or fantastic special effects. These are low budget flicks and should be watched and taken with a light hearted approach. If you're looking for quality, go rent "The Piano" or something in that artsy fartsy vein. Although I must admit that I am curious as to why Kevin Sorbo has chosen some poor scripts lately. "Flesh wounds" was absolutely horrible. He needs to find another good TV series to associate himself with.
A very large part of this movie was narration, as if they didn't have enough budget to complete the movie. Keven Sorbo does an OK job, but there is far too little decent material. Also the production quality is low. Avoid watching this movie, it is a total waste of time.
This movie was so bad, it was kinda fascinating to watch. Wooden acting, slow motion lines, you could just see the green screen during action scenes. Too much narration and skipping around in the beginning. "Two months later," "two months ago"... I did like the flashing scenes though with iridescent lighting - that was pretty cool. It needed a bigger budget, better direction, better acting, and a better editor.
