Excellent movie; enjoyed more than I thought I would. Extremely well done all around with all parts beautifully played. A very bright and quirky boy steals your heart w/o being sappy, just himself. Those who have a gifted child with, perhaps, Asbergers or just a few quirks..or any child, for that matter who sees his world and the people in it...or not...if pertain to his own thoughts and activiities at the time..will enjoy this movie, as will teachers. This is narrated by and from the boy's point of view and his independence and resolve are inspiring. Not downbeat at all, in spite of plot line; forget that and see this thoughtful toned down, surprisingly well done movie, Highly recommend as best of all the good films I have seen this year although not a big movie. All parts well done, but Thomas Horn turns in a natural performance like no other child actor I have seen.

Kind of ambivalent about it. The acting is good to be sure, but the theme of the key's relevance in the plot just didn't resonate all that much.

I just watched this movie on: ON DEMAND for HBO and it was an outstanding and very moving movie. So many people still morn for the people they lost on 9/11 and this movie touched so many hearts and showed us our children are grieving just as much as the adults for those lost on that awful day. This is a must see movie and Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock and little Thomas Horn did an outstanding job in this movie. My hats off to all of the actors in this movie. 10/13/12

Very artful and distinguished movie, but not for the weak of heart. Moving and depressing to be sure, but the actors were amazing. It was just too long though.

I loved Thomas Horn in this movie. He was so believable. I hope to see him in more movies.

I really like how unique this was. It makes me really think about how people dealt with 9/11 on a more heart level. It was nice to see Tom & Sandra in these roles. It was just different and refreshing.

A bit too precious for my taste. A different way to look at 9/11 but I'm not so sure it succeeded. Tom Hanks was OK as the 'dad' who exhausted me with his constant games...no dad could live up to those demands. Sandra Bullock barely recognizable with all her new facework...was so so. I felt like the movie tried too hard and something felt missing plus playing a lot of scenes a bit too cute. When Bullock says "I was with you all the time" and you see what happens it's completely unbelievable and the movie becomes just another story toying with your feelings and not going anywhere new emotionally. The kid seems strangely adult and not particularly likable and so as a viewer you just wait for something that doesn't come except a cornball resolution. I sure hope the book was better.

Very slow and tedious ... only the last 10 minutes got it up to 2 stars.

The scenario seemed really implausible. The movie seemed to miss the mark.
