Jack Conway and Derek Chase are the two best assassins in the world-but unknown to each other. These two rival assassins form an uneasy alliance to take down the head of a drug cartel, which is backed by the DEA.
Added this to my list just to see JCVD's latest train wreck, and to see if he has hit the wall physically. I didn't expect to actually watch the whole movie, let alone enjoy it, but I must confess that I did. JCVD gives a credible, understated performance that reminded me of Steve McQueen. Don't get me wrong, Citizen Kane it ain't, but I have to admit I enjoyed the movie and it was good looking with some good characters and good action. Kind of gave me the same vibe as Sniper, where I didn't buy Tom Berenger (or Billy Zane, for that matter) as a sniper but found a way to like the movie anyway, I never bought JCVD as a professional cold blooded stealth assassin and firearm expert and all that, but he never made me turn it off and by the end I found myself enjoying it and curious to see how it ended. I also really liked the girl, she was hot, vulnerable, cute, cunning and everything else I like about the opposite s*x. I'd recommend for rent if it's no higher than 85 on your list. C+/B
Rented based on the positive reviews...maybe expectations for a Van Damme movie are so low these days that this "seemed" like a good movie? Not sure, but I didn't see the same movie everyone else saw apparantly...1 out of 4 stars.
