Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, the Academy Award-winning duo behind The Hurt Locker, reteam for this drama detailing the hunt for Osama bin Laden, which stars Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain as the intelligence expert who dedicated a decade of her life to tracking down the world's most wanted terrorist. In the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the CIA began interrogating suspected Al Qaeda agents across the globe in a bid to locate the elusive bin Laden. Upon arriving at a CIA black site and witnessing the brutal interrogation tactics firsthand, driven operative Maya (Chastain) aids her unpredictable colleague Dan (Jason Clarke) in gathering the intelligence that will help bring their target to justice. Over the course of the next decade, numerous false leads and dead ends make the search seem more futile than ever. Meanwhile, numerous suicide bombings across the Middle East and Europe hint that Al Qaeda won't go down without a fight. Then, just when it seems as if the trail of clues has finally dried up, an old piece of evidence leads Maya to a suspect who may work directly for the man charged with planning the worst act of terrorism ever committed on American soil. Joel Edgerton, Edgar Ramirez, Mark Strong, Chris Pratt, and James Gandolfini co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Best movie of the year? Are you joking? This is the type of movie I'd watch if I wanted to learn history, or was in a class. Not very entertaining, tho'. LOTS of acronyms make this movie VERY hard to follow unless you know what they all mean (LZ, anyone?). Also all the names of the hunted characters are so similar, it's real hard to keep track of who they found and who they didn't find. Turn the closed captioning on, for sure!

If you want to see action then watch "Special Forces" or "Tears of the Sun". When Jessica Chastain uses expletives she really sounds stupid. Lots of guys in suits if that is your thing. Torture (watching this thing) and sand.

ARGO was good, but this was better...inspite of the bleeding hearts who protest our interrogations. Freedom isn't free...especially when folks want to kill us just because of religion.

It takes pains to keep its distance, to stay neutral, unemotional. It refuses to assign easy labels, to people or issues. It gives very little back-story, even of the lead character. It doesn"™t try to win you to a point of view, to make you want to cheer your approval, or shake your head in shame, or even like or dislike the characters. For most of the film I found the effect alienating. I was gripped by the story, but I didn"t feel emotions, or care about characters in the way a most films would have made me. While watching this felt like a weakness. I felt distracted, disappointed, even bored at times, regardless of the dramatic nature of the story. Yet that same quality led me to feeling powerfully haunted by the film when it was over. To ponder violence and its effects on human beings, the thin lines between perseverance and obsession, the inability to ever have a clear morality in time of war. It forced me to think for myself.

I love movies based on real events and this one did not disappoint. Excellent!

This film did a great job of showing how low we have become as a people. The brutal interrogation tactics show a fundamental lack of morality that is unAmerican. This film is embarrassing. Shame on us.

Easily one of the greatest films in years, and is equally one of the most controversial. Highlighted by a strong performance by Jessica Chastain, Kathryn Bigelow's unrelenting direction, and Mark Boal's no-sugar-coating script. If you are at all interested in how we got bin Laden, see this movie. A must-see in my opinion if you like great films.

All they had to do was look n the cadaver locker where Bin Laden had been stored for the last 10+ yrs. More mossad/jew & neo-con propaganda.

AN excellent movie that could have been better with greater attention to editing. The movie was way too long and the first half of the movie loses momentum. However, the attention to detail of the final scenes is captivating and will keep on the edge of your seat.

For all the big whoop, I expected more. Maybe they tried to put too much into it, should have focused on a smaller part of the story. Not impressed.
