Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone adapts author Don Winslow's best-selling novel into this all-star ensemble crime drama about a pair of peaceful, Laguna Beach marijuana dealers who are targeted for extortion by the ruthless Mexican Baja cartel. Ben (Aaron Johnson) is a devout Buddhist and dedicated philanthropist, and his best friend Chon (Taylor Kitsch) is a former mercenary who trained as a Navy SEAL. They may not seem like major drug dealers, but together they make a comfortable living selling top-quality marijuana. And they share more than just a profitable business; their mutual girlfriend O (Blake Lively) is more than enough woman for the two ambitious young entrepreneurs to handle. But just as Ben and Chun are feeling like they're on top of the world, their blissful life of lawless hedonism threatens to yield dire repercussions. The Mexican Baja cartel wants a piece of the action, and their cruel leader Elena (Salma Hayek) has dispatched her top hatchet man Lado (Benicio Del Toro) to ensure that she gets it. Not a good movie at all. Poor Taylor Kitsch that cannot seem to get a good movie role and was not very believable in this character. Shame on Oliver Stone for making this movie.

Very slow pacing. Endless melodramatic voice overs. The acting is quite good, especially from John Travolta, who has the only funny lines in the entire movie, and Salma Hayek is also very good.

Bored to death. Stopped it after 45 minutes and went to bed. Hubby wants his time back, was kind of blah and slow. But that's only my opinion others liked it.

    Great movie. Just saw it last night. Keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. A great cast was choosen for this I cant think of anyone better for any role. Beauiful scenery of Laguna Beach but didnt show much of Mexico. I read the book and this does great job of staying true to the book, the things changed where nessicary to adapt it to the big screen. If you enjoy a intense thrill ride kind of movie rent it.

    Some should find this one entertaining... An interesting movie from Oliver Stone based on a novel about dealers who are not looking for trouble but indeed find it. It is very intense and violent at times. Fairly good and a little different paced than most dramas as it is told in third person. Lots of pretty ocean scenery , (several nude scenes for those that object), but decent performances from familiar actors as well. 3 D would have been great I am sure...
