The Expendables return with a vengeance in this follow-up to the 2010 surprise hit. Con Air's Simon West directed from a script by Sylvester Stallone and David Agosto. This time, Barney Ross (Stallone) and his merry band of mercentaries (including Jason Statham, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, and Terry Crews) take on a mission from Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) to clear Ross' record. The mission in question involves acquiring a black box from a downed airplane, with the caveat that they bring along Maggie (Yu Nan), a military-trained soldier who throws a gendered wrench into the team's manly ranks. When another mercenary, Jean Vilain (Jean Claude Van Damme), ambushes the team and mess up their newest member (The Hunger Games' Liam Hemsworth), it's hunt and kill time for the Expendables. Jet Li returns in an extended cameo, as does Arnold Schwarzenegger, with fellow '80s action star Chuck Norris coming along for the ride. Just about every AARP action hero is in this movie. It's just plain entertainment with lots of shooting, wrecking everything, killing all the bad guys, etc. Even the main bad guy is Jean Claude Van Damme so there's a testosterone overload throughout the entire film. I watched the first chapter twice because it's just that much fun. The story was likely written by a bunch of fourth graders but the action outweighs the dialog.

As far as dumb action movies go.... this one was GREAT!!!!!! I enjoyed seeing all the "Old" actors and hearing the silly (Groan) one-liners. This flick was actually BETTER than the first one! It was also something my wife would HATE!! Lots of explosions, guns, and fighting here!!! Who cares about the plot? Just turn your brain off and have a little fun with this one...

This was disappointing. If you are after total 'shoot em up - bang em up' films, this is for you. But most of the star power were little more than cameo appearances - sometimes mysteriously in time to rake Stallone and his team's keisters out of the fire. I like the excitement of "how are they getting out of this one" and seeing it happen - - - not "BOOM - - RAT-A-TAT", all the enemy is killed and the savior makes his cameo appearance. Give me a break!

I love all out action movies and the two Expendables is definitely all out action. I have to say that I like this one more as the stroy line was meatier and the characters were more fleshed out. It showed their love and respect for each other more and also their vulnerability. I can honestly say that I would like to see more in this franchise. Of course, the actors are all getting a little long in the tooth, as they say, but they could always bring in some of the "new blood" in the action genre. If you like action and a lot of it rent this one. Nonstop action from beginning to end. Loved it!!!

    This one was way better then the first one!!, The action was non stop and more explosive then the original, although some of the acting was a bit bizzare. I found JCVD being the most convincing one in this one and his acting has grown and became alot better. My only downfall was that I wish they would of let JCVD fight more in the scenes. Overall I found this movie very fun to watch and it deserved to be seen more with a bigger boxoffice outcome!!!. seriously.

    Really really loved this move. Stallone has finally moved from the middle aged lothario to the older seasoned gentleman actor. Loved all the references to the old action flicks. Cast of legends was superb. Can't wait for #3.
