A man wrestles with the lingering consequences of a childhood wish in this live-action comedy from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. As a young boy, John Bennett wanted nothing more than for his beloved teddy bear Ted (voice of MacFarlane) to come to life. Incredibly, that wish was granted. But now that John (Mark Wahlberg) is all grown up, his boyhood dream has become a nightmare nuisance. Mila Kunis, Joel McHale, and Giovanni Ribisi co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
There a few funny moments in this film, but it is otherwise an ugly picture featuring excrement, fatulence and gratuitous foul language. The real insult is this film might be mistaken by parents as entertainment suitable for children, while ignoring it's "R" rating.
I've never seen an "adult" teddy bear movie, until now. If your child mentions watching Ted, beware. This is a funny movie. While I enjoyed watching it, I wouldn't watch it again. It can be offensive to more conservative adults.
I thought this movie was in poor taste, especially because it used a "stuffed animal" which is mainly an attraction to children. THIS IS NOT A MOVIE THAT CHILDREN SHOULD SEE.
I could not WAIT to see this movie, then I finally saw it and laughed twice. Wow this movie was whack. All the funny parts were in the commercial. I'm a huge Seth fan, but he can keep this one.
Rating for BB , not the movie . Once again a movie NOT available to rent online , nice going Block Buster (*sarcastic) . Block Buster is literally becoming more worthless each month !
Mediocre comedy. I was really looking forward to this movie, and was there opening weekend to give it a go. I was sitting there, popcorn and soda in hand only to be met with lame cutaway gags and a teddy bear with a dirty mouth. I know the teddy with the dirty mouth was the plot of the movie, but I just feel there could have been jokes that didnt focus directly and only on that fact.
All said and done, it is not a terrible movie, and I am not completely shunning it. I am just saying that I was expecting more. This movie is still worth a rent to check out.
In spots funny and also heartwarming fable about a boy with no friends who wishes upon a shooting star that his toy teddy bear could talk. And talk indeed he does. As time goes on he manages to impede the boy's love life and in the end a valuable lesson about love and friendship is learned by all. Good and entertaining performances by Mark Wahlberg, Milla Kunis and as the talking teddy bear..."Ted" Seth Mac Farlane who also directed and wrote the screenplay.
