Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death (1989)
Member Rating:
Buxom Playboy foldout Shannon Tweed plays a sexy college professor assigned to investigate a sudden, disastrous avocado shortage; her predecessor, a Dr. Kurtz (Adrienne Barbeau) has never returned from the dreaded California Avocado Jungle. Accompanied by air-headed assistant Karen Mistal and macho guide Bill Maher (of Politically Incorrect fame), Tweed ventures into the deepest jungle, where the Piranha Women rule. Proof that this civilization is a matriarchy is the presence of a tribe of wimpy, domesticated men called the Donnahews, who chant names like Alan Alda and Fritz Mondale as their mantra. Fortunately, Tweed is armed with her N.O.W. membership card, so she is allowed safe passage. She finally catches up with Kurtz, who reveals that the avocado shortage is phony, designed by the government as an excuse to capture the Piranha women and transform them into Malibu housewives. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

If you can remember the 80's you will love this movie! It is the funniest bad movie I have seen in along time. At first you think your just watching a low-budget movie but quickly you realize that it is low-budget on purpose. Lot's of double meanings and funny monologues. I would think it would be funny to anyone but again many of the references are to things that were current near the time the movie was made so while they are funny even with out that reference if you remember the1980's the jokes are hilarious. If your just looking for nudity this is not the movie for you.

This movie was hysterical. Just by looking at the DVD cover art, this would not have been a film I would have wanted to jump up and down to see, but now after seeing it I have gained a new found appreciation for older comedies. The 80s were overburdened by "big-budget" comedies. Those that carried big named comedians, but there was also a few that slipped through the cracks. In 1989, this film was one of those. This was a very sharp minded film with a great cast and a flawless script. This was, and will remain, a story about feminism. I asked Jen, my wife and feminist, if this film was ever shown in any of her graduate or undergraduate classes, and she replied ... sadly, "no". This film demonstrates what feminists are striving for in the form of film. I loved this film, and so did my wife. I suggest this to anyone out there that is looking for that perfect "campy" movie that will make you laugh, never use your mind, and create a strong point for feminism!!

I rented this movie to see Shannon Tweed. With a title like this you cant expect more then a babe-athon. But I was disapointed. Not enough Shannon in skimpy clothes.

This movie was awesome! Very funny. I enjoyed the one liners. Feminists are the best :)

This movie is so funny. It brought back so many memories from the feminist 80's and Bill Maher is a riot as a goofy, macho, inept Indiana Jones. Shannon's a much better feminist Indiana Jones. And who else could play the Queen of the Cannibal Women but Adrienne Barbeau. A laugh fest. I enjoyed it immensely.

This was touted as a cult film. It was very silly and disappointing. Shannon Tweed , What were you thinking?

Women good, men bad. That said, an amusing trip to the 80's.
