Director David Cronenberg adapts author Don DeLillo's novel about a Manhattan billionaire (Robert Pattinson) who finds his quest to get a haircut from his father's old barber complicated by the presidential motorcade, a gang of violent anarchists, and a funeral procession for a famous hip-hop star. Meanwhile, the wealthy 28-year-old's vast fortune rests on the value of the yuan, which he continually monitors from the comfort of his stretch limo. Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti, and Juliette Binoche co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Turned it off at the 30 minute mark when the prostate exam in the limo started turning into a sexual tension scene. Horrible conversation movie with zero plot. Very boring. How I wish I could get those 30 minutes of my life back!
I couldn't watch this. It is a heavily stylized concept movie that creates a cold feeling of unreality. I could guess that at some point there would be a message, but it takes a lot to get past the pretentiousness. The filmmakers don't seem to care at all about entertaining. Beware.
