A champion surfer loses her left arm in a terrifying shark attack, but summons the determination to make an incredible comeback in this inspirational sports drama based on an incredible true story. A lifelong surfer who always felt at home in the sea, Bethany Hamilton (AnnaSophia Robb) honed her surfing skills in Kauai, and went on to compete in numerous surfing competitions. Then, one fateful Halloween morning, the wave-riding teen was taking part in a national surf competition when a 14-foot-long tiger shark emerged from the depths and changed her life in the blink of an eye. By the time Bethany reached shore, her left arm was almost completely gone. GREAT Movie with an inspiring true story. That is brilliantly acted & directed. Great movie for the whole family, but especially for teens to help them see that they can overcome what they're going through in life.

Very heartfelt and inspiring movie. Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt have good chemistry, AnnaSophia Robb was well cast, but Carrie Underwood was a strange pick... she's very plastic in this role, and not believable at all.

Best True Story Movie I have ever seen so precise like the true event, very spiritual shares the message of what GOD thru JESUS CHRIST has done miracle for this girl who survive after a shark attack, a story to never give up hope or life even after a traumatic experience. It moves you and is a very good influencial movie to all. I enjoyed it especially the special feature=documentary of the true event of the family's true story.

Beautiful and inspirational story with very moving performances. I cried several times in this movie, and still tear up every time we watch it. Powerful messages throughout, without being preachy. Gorgeous surfing footage! This one goes on our all time favorite movie list. My kids all want to be like Bethany Hamilton now, and are begging for surf lessons. :)

I have two grandaughters that live far away from me. I am always trying to instill into them a love for G-d. I want them to grow up knowing that winning is not the epitomy of everythiing. That having character is everything. Being honest and true to oneself is what it is all about. I simply will buy them this awesome DVD.
