Can you say CHICK FLICK? Well, since I am a chick I am just fine with that label! Ok, as you may have guessed this is a movie about many NYE stories in NYC and "happy" new year beginnings. No big secrets on this one - just sit back and enjoy the ride. (A good one to have so you can watch it on NYE if you tend to celebrate at home in your jammies.) I thought it was charming and enjoyable, I teared up a little and smiled a little and have no complaints. Stephanie Alexander sings twice (beautifully!) and her version of Auld Lang Syne is wonderful. Favorite part of this is Michelle Pfieffer's character crossing off things on her NYE resolution list (very creatively) - starting with quitting her thankless job. Enjoy!
oh "new year's eve", I wanted to like you
a lot more than I did, but you have too damn many plots. Paring it down to 2 would have been better. Great collection of actors, some of whom are worth watching. Not a great date movie.
I'm not a "chick", but I still enjoyed this movie. It probably won't win any Oscars, but it was fun, heart warming, romantic, and turned out to have a feel-good ending. As you have guessed by now, it is a series of short stories occurring on New Years Eve. After reading the reviews, I expected to be fast-forwarding a lot. Instead, my wife and I watched it twice, and some parts a half dozen times...tear-jerking stuff.
My two favorite stories were Michelle Pfeiffer and Zac checking off items on her bucket list...she was just such a sweetheart! And, my favorite was Lea Michele's rendition of Auld Lang Syne. She sang it like a melancholy, but hopeful Celtic love song. Best version of that song I have ever heard...it will bring you to tears, and have you reaching for a loved one. And she looked stunning while singing it.
Although I wouldn't nominate this film for any Oscars, I would recommend it for a date night type evening with a loved one...just sit back and enjoy it.
One of the worst movies ever. I never say that, but I only watched 20 minutes of this and shut it off. Valentine's Day was much better. Too much going on in this movie and too many stars=Fail!
Too much going on to make this movie a success. Not eniugh development of each storyline. A mismosh of nothingness. Not unwatchable but not a can't miss either
this has to be the longest New Year's eve in the history of manking...millions of things happen every day that don't come to an end on New Year's eve..or one second after midnight....it would be almost nice to think they did...everyday was brand new and problem free...I couldn't think of anything but when will this end... ! ?
