Luke Greenfield's Something Borrowed stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel, a 30-year-old lawyer always able to put aside what she wants for the betterment of her BFF since childhood, Darcy (Kate Hudson), a sexy extrovert who never met a party or a drink she didn't like. Darcy is marrying Dex (Colin Egglesfield), Rachel's study partner from law school, and the guy she's had a massive crush on since they took their first Torts class together. When Dex and Rachel finally hook up just months before the wedding, he realizes he might be marrying the wrong woman, but pressures from his parents corner him into going through with his duties, even if it's not what his heart wants. Meanwhile, Rachel's other best friend, Ethan (John Krasinski), does his best to convince her to make a big play for Dex before it's too late. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi
Eh, it was okay. My wife and I watched it and found it to be okay if there is nothing else, but not great, and frankly the ending was disappointingly selffish.
The cast did as good a job as could be done on this movie, but the story is too contrived and not very realistic. I enjoyed watching it because I enjoy the actors, but ultimately it is a little disappointing.
I really enjoyed this movie. I am not a big fan of Kate Hudson, but I figured I would give this a try. I am glad I did. I will probably buy this movie.
Chick flick or not this move was neither funny nor romantic. It was ackward at best, but mainly dull. The male "lead", Colin Egglesfield looked like a bit like a young Steve Reeves and his acting was just as wooden (Superman I excluded, of course). Ginnifer was charming, but her co actors added nothing. Kate Hudson who is only in her early 30s looked 40ish and overacted to the point of annoyance. Bad viewing all the way around.
Entertaining chick flick. I loved the Salt 'N Pepa routine to "Push It!" Ginnifer Goodwin was very good - and sincere - as Rachel, Kate Hudson was perfect playing the self-absorbed Darcy; Colin Egglesfield was very likable and empathetic as the hunky, yummy hero love interest, Dex; and John Krasinski almost stole the entire movie as Rachel's and Darcy's childhood friend, Ethan. His character had me laughing throughout the whole movie, and he moved me with how much he truly cared for his friend, Rachel. Krazinski's role was very well acted. This is a great movie to watch if you want to watch a popcorn movie, pure entertainment. It is not going to be thought-provoking or cure the ills of the world, but will entertain you for an hour and a half.
