The fine, upstanding cannibals of Pleasant Valley clash with the cast and crew of an obnoxious reality show after taking the Guts n' Glory Jamboree on the road in director Tim Sullivan's blood-soaked sequel. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Calling this piece of garbage a movie is an insult to horrible movies everywhere. The DVD cover boasts that famed director John Landis said it was one of the few sequels that surpassed its original. I can only imagine he was being sarcastic and was implying the original was absolutely hideous. If he really thought this awful waste of life and effort was at all any good, even remotely decent, then I can't say Landis any longer has any sense. This "movie" is diabolically horrible. Any number of Lovecraftian beasts and horrors have more redeeming features than this trash.
I have seen the first one, and it was a masterpiece compared to this one! I'm not knocking the first one at all, in fact I loved it but this sequel isn't even worth the DVD it was printed on. It's full of people who think they are actors trying to act, and I'm sorry but the guy who played the mayor is suppossed to be a "B" movie legend? Perhaps in another world as he could not act for anything either. The only reason I gave this so called movie two stars is because I'm a guy, and it has some decent looking women along with plenty of topless action. Other than that I would say avoid this mess at all costs!!
I love the first one it had original deaths, was funny and the production value was wonderful as is the acting. Well, the new one doesn't hit on any of these.
Bill Moesley did a wonderful job as Mayor Buckman his own and you could almost forget that Robert Englund played him previously. The rest of the Maniacs did a decent job but where the acting lacked was the actors that get killed off.
I know they only spent 2 weeks shooting this and First Look is on board as apposed to Lions Gate who did the first so I have a feeling that they didn't have much money to work with. That being said, the audio for the entire film sounded as if it was ADR. The voices didn't seem natural and in one scene in particular it sounded as if the actor did his lines over the phone. It was very distracting.
I try not to get to excited about films because I set the bar high but I did w/this anyway and it certainly didn't meet expectations.
Some movies are so bad that they are considered good. This movie ain't one of them. The movie is completely absent of anything resembling an intelligent plot and what little plot there is is a hollow attempt to create dialogue for every T & A scene throughout the movie (and there is quite a few). If you are into movies where the actresses (as use the word loosely) spend more time topless than covered, then this might be the movie for you. Otherwise, avoid this flick like the plague.
