The sequel to the low-budget blockbuster Paranormal Activity takes place a few months before the events of the first film. Katie (Katie Featherston), the much put-upon leading lady in the original, has a sister living in an upscale Los Angeles suburb named Kristi (Sprague Grayden). Kristi has a new baby son, Hunter; a likable lug of a husband named Daniel (Brian Boland), who owns several fast-food joints; a teenage stepdaughter from her hubby's first marriage, Ali (Molly Ephraim); and a large, friendly dog. As the family gets used to the new arrival, strange noises are heard late at night and when they come home from an outing, they discover the house has been trashed, even though none of their valuables have been stolen. Daniel responds by installing a security system and a network of surveillance cameras, though that doesn't stop the noises or the Latino housekeeper's insistence that spirits lurk in the home. When Katie and her boyfriend, Micah (Micah Sloat), stop by for a visit, they discuss the strange goings-on with Kristi; the women of the house believe supernatural forces are at work, while the men find that notion ridiculous. That doesn't last long, as the spirits get noisier and angrier, especially when Ali begins doing some research on the subject, and before long the safety of the household is being threatened on several fronts, possibly due to some dirty dealings in the family's distant past. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

This film is more of a prequel rather than a sequel (but not totally) The story takes place at Katie's sisters home with her husband, daughter and pet dog and a lot of surveillance cameras .Things begin to get rather strange, spooky, and a bit creepy as the film moves along, there are a hand full of parts that will spook you out as well as make you jump out of your seat and the dead silence in the night scenes are sometimes the most effective and eerie as you just keep looking around everywhere for something to hear, move or go THUMP!! in the night, but it's at the end when the story finally ties in with the 1st film. All in all it was basically the same stuff from the 1st film just amped up a bit more. If you liked the the 1st film you will definitely like thin one. Just don't go home alone to an empty house.

This movie was very creepy and worth watching. If you liked the first you will love this one. Most sequels to horror movies ruin the first one this one definitely did not ruin the story.

If you're of the thinking that this is just a cheesy hollywooded up rehash of the first one - you would be very wrong. The original might be a little more creepy, but this sequel is actually a better film in every other way. There are several jump out of your seat shock moments (one such scene is AWESOME by the way) and a sustained tone of suspense and dread throughout. This film serves as both a prequel and a sequel, containing several elements that dovetail perfectly with the first film.

I enjoyed the first one, but this one was way better! I liked how they tied this one to the first one. Even though this one shows how it all started. This one has a lot more noise and jumping moments. However, I didn't see the baby crawl outside like it shows on the previews. Even if you didn't like the first one you should give this one a chance. Great for Halloween!! I was creeped out after I got home. Didn't want to go in the basement alone. haha

Good match up with part one. Make sure you see part one prior to seeing the sequel.

Part 2 is considerably scarier than the first one. They did a good job of tying the two movies together. I think these movies are better if you believe that it's possible. It had been a very long time since a horror movie stuck with me once I got home. If you enjoyed the first movie, you will really like part two. This is one of those rare sequels that surpasses the original.

These movies simply take too long to get to the point and I was so bored in the first 20 minutes that I could not even finish watching it. Very big dissapointment for me with the first one and this one as well.
