A British mine clearance expert runs afoul of the Taliban government while working in Afghanistan in this thriller starring Shaun Dooley (Eden Lake, The Red Riding Trilogy). Kandahar, Afghanistan: 1999. Decades of warfare have left the Afghani desert littered with landmines. The Taliban is in power, and ex-British Army officer Richard Lee (Dooley) is digging for mines under the scorching hot sun when he incurs the wrath of corrupt local police chief Ashiq Khan (Rasheed Naz). As a result, Lee is labeled an infidel and marked for death. Now his only hope for escape is to cross the border into Pakistan. Desperate, Lee ventures deep into the desert and encounters a group of rebel fighters who agree to help him on his journey. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
It was a good movie. There was one scene showing them kissing. It was not revealing and only lasted about seconds. I can't understand why someone would think it was a 'bit much'.
One of the stupidest movies I've evr seen. Nothing is connected. Plus it looks like that this movie is supported by the Balochistan Liberation movement as there part in this movie was really irrelevant. Plus they distort the facts for example showed Balochistan not part of Pakistan which is indeed an integral part. But overall the main issue is the structural part of this movie as lots of areas dont add up.dont watch.
I enjoyed this film because I particularly like war films, foreign films portraying cultural differences, and customs. The scenery appeared to be legitimately Afghanistan, note: I say appeared, as I don't know. I was disturbed by the "stupid" and risky behavior of the star and questioned the authenticity of many actions. The romance was a bit much, so while it was I felt quite flawed, I did enjoy it.
A good movie based on a culture that we (thankfully) fail to understand. The irregard by the main star to take this into cosideration was also a mystery but this is a movie. If this movie was based on a true story then sow you oats in another place at a different time.Having said all that love conquers all but sometimes at a cruel and heavy price. I enjoyed this movie and would recommend to those who like war stories it it is worth seeing but being a fellow Brit I maybe bias - John H
I can recommend. Good but not great indy movie. Well filmed. Good ending. Acting was a little lame at times. Story was also little weak in places. May have just been bad editiing, but it seemed like parts of the story line were missing. Nice twist at the end.
Not bad for an Afgan war film. I would just have to say Dooley was pretty stupid messing with the Queen Bee in the bee hive. Play with fire and you get burned. It was ok. Worth a look.
This was a so-so movie. Not one I'd buy or rent again. Little dry, strange and sad storyline at points, makes you ask why the main character hasn't more gumption and sense working in Taliban controlled Afghanistan.
