Academy Award-winning director Brad Bird (Ratatouille) makes his live-action feature directorial debut with the fourth installment of the massively successful Mission Impossible series. The Kremlin has been bombed, and the blame has fallen on the IMF. As a result, the president initiates Ghost Protocol, and accuses Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team of placing the bomb in an attempt to incite a global nuclear war. Now, in order to clear the IMF of terrorism charges, Ethan assembles a new team to uncover the truth by using every high-tech trick in the book. But this time they're on their own, and should they be caught, the entire world could be plunged into a nightmare from which there is no waking up. Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, and Simon Pegg co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I liked the movie over all but was confused why Tom Cruise was in prision. The movie over all had a lot of action and kept my interest and did not drag out.
A lot of promotion about this movie gave me a hope it would be much better. Sadly, I was disappointed and did not find it that good. There have been so many improvements in special effects but little was done in this movie. I would not recommend it as it seemed too lack luster to me.
This movie has the required action stunts in it - the usual everything is working against them but they pull it off - and I really DO enjoy Simon Pegg in this movie (loved him in Run Fat Boy Run)... but I was less than thrilled. And really, who speeds along in the middle of a thick sandstorm where you can't even see 2 feet in front of your face and chances of hitting another vehicle or person are high? What genius thought that up? I didn't feel vested in this story or characters - it never "caught" me - it was just like a series of action segments put together. Maybe it's because I don't like Tom Cruise's acting in general, I don't know. For me this was just ok. If you watch it strictly for the explosions etc, you will probably like it.
This movie had alot of action of course. Actually, I didn't know how the ending was going to take place. I personally really like movies that take place in other countries too.
I'm a big fan of the Tom Cruise MI films, but this one wasn't very good - and I think I figured out why. Tom Cruise isn't in it very much! There was so much focus on the W. Brandt character, that I began to wonder if Brandt was being introduced into the MI mix to take over from Ethan on future releases if Cruise wants to quit. And Simon Pegg mugging his way thru this film - too cartoonish, too many lines. Why was there a need for a Benji character anyway? Hardly the taut competent Secret Agent type. Give the laugh lines to Tom Cruise ...he's got the gallows humor Delivery down pat.
