As one of the earliest forms of contemporary African-American music -- the ancestor of gospel, jazz, blues, R&B, and rap -- old-time spiritual music retains a level of cultural and historical importance that cannot be denied. The documentary I Can Tell the World hones in on a multigenerational, interracial choir that understands this, with an overarching commitment to the preservation of African-American spirituals such as "Go Down, Moses" and "Amazing Grace."
