Wedding bells are bringing together a group of old friends as well as reawakening some old rivalries in this comedy drama. Lila Hayes (Anna Paquin) and Tom McDevon (Josh Duhamel) first met when they were attending the same Ivy League college, and they became part of a circle of close friends who called themselves The Romantics. Six years after graduating, Lila and Tom are getting married, and their friends are seeing each other for the first time in years as they come together for the wedding. Laura Rosen (Katie Holmes), Lila's college roommate, has been invited to be the maid of honor, but while they're close friends, Laura has a secret -- she had a fling with Tom while he was dating Lila and she knows they still have feelings for one another. As the wedding day arrives, the occasion (and an open bar) brings some old skeletons out of the closet, especially as Lila's brother, Chip (Elijah Wood), confesses his attraction to Laura. Also starring Candice Bergen and Malin Akerman, The Romantics was written and directed by Galt Niederhoffer, who adapted the screenplay from her own novel; the film received its world premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The Romantics is a trivial attempt to entertain and it flops perfectly. I am surprised that a few of the stars, we have come to enjoy, accepted parts in this farce. The plot is predictable and the conclusion is absolutely no surprise even though the ending is left hanging in the rain. There is a tremendous amount of alcohol drinking and drunkenness which creates an obnoxious atmosphere through much of the film. So what is redeeming within the movie. It is Candice Bergen at her aristocratic best. Candice's attitude and facial expressions are her trade mark and she comes through very well. Unfortunately, that is all that is favorable and may be said positive about The Romantics. The movie just simply stinks.

This was difficult to watch. Good actors could not save this awful movie. Shoddy camera work.

Probably the most disingenuous movie I have ever seen. I didn't believe the acting or the characters or the storyline or the dialogue or anything. For so many well known actors in it, I have to say this is an epic failure..

Not a very good movie, a lot of good actors, but a terrible story. Boring and slow. I would not bother to see this movie.

The characters in this story, with only a few exceptions weren't very credible. The storyline was not very believable either. I woudn't recommend it.

The Romantics was such a disappointment. Why these actors accepted these parts I will never know. Story line - well there wasn't much of one. It keep going back and forth and never pulled the viewer into a plot. Predictable, yes. Frustrating to watch, yes. A bit depressing, yes. Characters have an opportunity to learn from errors of judgement but they never do. In fact they are making same life-sucking mistakes throughout the movie. The 'which girl will he end up with' wasn't even good in that the story line had both of them as lame. Overuse of alcohol and drugs. Romantic, NO.

Mr. Fergie and Katie Holmes are better than expected, but overall this is a depressing look at vain people who make bad decisions.
