Adapted from Ned Vizzini's 2006 novel, It's Kind of a Funny Story tells the story of burnt-out teenager Craig (Keir Gilchrist), who checks himself into a mental health clinic citing exhaustion, and finds himself placed in the adult ward due to the fact that the youth ward has been shut down. Taken under the wing of fellow patient Bobby (Zach Galifianakis), the stressed-out 16-year-old attempts to endure his mandatory five days' stay without completely losing his mind. His predicament is made somewhat more tolerable by the presence of Noelle (Emma Roberts), another teenage patient who's struggling to sort out her thoughts. Academy Award nominee Viola Davis, Lauren Graham, and Jim Gaffigan co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This is a fantastic, funny, heartfelt movie. The adapted screenplay was well written & the cast was perfect. I agree with member Marilla H. All families with teenagers should view this film together.

One would think that with the word 'funny' in the titie of this film, that the movie might actually BE funny. It wasn not. It is a serious look at issues that teenagers deal with today. Having had a son who opted for the suicide route, it is a topic-type movie worth viewing. I'd recommend it to ALL parents and teenagers.

Great acting, super story-line, excellent movie --realistic and horribly sensitive to teenage angst and suicides. Super movie.

Good moral... but very slow moving movie. We both fell asleep the first time trying to watch it... but made it through the second attempt and enjoyed the plot.

Much better than I thought it was going to be. Some what a dark comedy with a great message. (Not just for teenagers but all).

Sometimes you rent a movie and think it will be slow or boring, I started watching thinking I would play on line while it was on, the kid caught my attention and I couldn't stop watching , great movie I won't be forgetting this one.

Great, Great movie!!! I am a teenager and loved this movie. Great acting, pretty funny, and Zach G played his part beautifully. to be honest if i didn't read the book i would never had watched this movie but i recomend this movie to everyone especially other teens who are having difficulty with dealing with pressure and your future life.

Movie was very slow and not funny at all. Zach from Hangover needs to have a bunch of co-lead characters to make his roles impressive at all. Worth a rent if you have free time but I got thru 1hr and constantly kept falling asleep during the movie. Its not a funny story should be the title.

This movie was better then I thought it would be. It kind of reminds me of the "Garden State" and "Prozac Nation" wrapped up in a teenage darkness that Cool Craig (Keir Gilchrist) takes us through. Bobby (Zack Galifianakis) does deliver some good lines and the "Under Pressure- Queen" performance was awesome. It is a come to realization movie that life is going to be fine...just takes 5 days in a mental ward, a couple of drawings and a cute girl for him to figure it out! Arundel B.

This movie surprise me, it was much better that I had ever imagine, It was sad, funny and it touching your heart. The young man who played Craig was great and he really brough the point home about how hard it is being a teenage and dealing with everyday life. Rent this movie and it will surprise you too. H. Steinfeld

Great acting, memorable movie. Zack G. is not a 1-Trick Pony. Modern day "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" - Nurse Ratched.

Great acting and storyline. It wasn't as funny or exciting as I imagined it to be, but all right.
