Adapted from Ned Vizzini's 2006 novel, It's Kind of a Funny Story tells the story of burnt-out teenager Craig (Keir Gilchrist), who checks himself into a mental health clinic citing exhaustion, and finds himself placed in the adult ward due to the fact that the youth ward has been shut down. Taken under the wing of fellow patient Bobby (Zach Galifianakis), the stressed-out 16-year-old attempts to endure his mandatory five days' stay without completely losing his mind. His predicament is made somewhat more tolerable by the presence of Noelle (Emma Roberts), another teenage patient who's struggling to sort out her thoughts. Academy Award nominee Viola Davis, Lauren Graham, and Jim Gaffigan co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

This is a fabulous movie that should be viewed by all teenagers and parents! It brings up two very prevalent issues painfully dealt with in silence due to family "no talk" rules as we all must pretend we are fine. There are far too many teenage suicides & teens shooting people or growing up to do serious things as families are so determined to keep up the bluff and ignore the signs. This movie brings out teenage depression and cutting. Information on both needs to be shouted from rooftops. The cast was marvelous and did an excellent job of airing these problems. Dr. Minervas was terrific and I feel handled the treatment with perfection! I sincerely hope that mental hospitals are run in this manner to address our sociey that is so in need of the wonderful treatment exhibited in the movie!

Excellent, alittle sappy at times, but pretty good. Made light of a serious subject, but at the same time made it relevant to mainstream. Excellent soundtrack.

Loved, loved, loved this movie! Gilchrist and Galifianakis are great. The story was beautifully written. Did this even make it into the theaters? A+ all around. I highly recommend this movie.

Really great movie! It did a good job of addressing the issue of teenage depression without bogging you down and making you feel miserable. It was entertaining, funny, and had a good message. I'm planning on buying it!

My wife and I did not know what to expect from this movie. It happened to be better than we thought. It was a cute story and I would recommend other people to see it. The relationship between Craig and Bobby was cute.

This movie was ok. There were a few scenes that were funny and even surprisingly good, but then it just goes south and lost interest.

This movie isn't slow; Sharon is too slow to enjoy it. Overall I found this to be a really enjoyable comedy/drama. If you like movies like "Little Miss Sunshine" then you'll probably enjoy this too.

This movie was very dark and depressing! Besides the one scene where the boy imagines himself singing like David Bowie, I felt it was a total waste of time even as a rental. There is more than enough issues in this world that can make you depressed. Rent a movie to make you feel good about life and one that will make you smile!

Great acting, memorable movie. Zack G. is not a 1-Trick Pony. Modern day "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" - Nurse Ratched.

Great acting and storyline. It wasn't as funny or exciting as I imagined it to be, but all right.
