Dr. Seuss' classic, environmentally themed children's book comes to the big screen in this tale of a young boy who encounters a cantankerous forest creature after venturing outside of his artificial city in search of a tree. Ted (voice of Zac Efron) lives in a town where nothing is quite as it appears; everything is plastic, including the plants. Hopelessly smitten by the beautiful Audrey (voice of Taylor Swift), who dreams of one day seeing a real tree, Ted boldly leaves the city determined to find the flora and grant her wish. Along the way, the young adventurer crosses paths with the Lorax (voice of Danny DeVIto), a diminutive, mustached defender of nature who doesn't take kindly to human intruders. The better Ted gets to know the Lorax, however, the more he learns that his newfound friend has good reason for being a bit surly. The Lorax should have been voiced by Wilford Brimley! I would have given it more stars! Also the blu-ray disc I received was defective and will not play a good 10 minutes of the middle part. I have to skip it.

If you want to subliminally teach your child that starting a business will make them turn into a selfish, greedy, earth destroying opportunist who will ultimately be deserted by everyone in their lives and left to live in utter desolation with almost no chance of redemption, then this is the movie for you. Clearly made for a very young age group this movie is none-the-less rated PG. I’m pretty sure after watching it that the PG stands for PropaGanda... heavily endorsed at the beginning by our government’s Environmental Protection Agency and with scenes straight out of the Environmentalist Movement. The message is a discussion suited for high school aged children, but the format would only appeal to small children who will have no way to understand what they are really being taught. No amount of Parental Guidance will erase the anti-achievement message of the boy who gets the beautiful girl/artist by going up against evil business and saving the trees. Enjoy!

    Great movie and even better message! It has nothing to do with Socialist Agenda. It is about changing the way we are and trying to be better for the environment. It is all about love and compassion, which is what we really need nowadays. LOVE IT!
