I wanted to love "MacGruber". But the fact is, this movie is just dissapointing. The problem with it, is that it's exactly what everyone was thinking. "How do you turn a 90 second sketch into a 90 minute movie?" In this case, they couldn't. Not really. It's literally like they were "winging it" when they wrote the script. And even though MacGruber's a cartoon, they set up everything in a very realistic like setting. So it doesn't even work as a comedy, and comes off like an action movie wannabe. There's no real plot here, and worse of all, MacGruber is not even likable, whatsoever. He's a coward and a buffoon and seems to have no skills in anything. And WHY even have the Ryan Phillipe character? Isn't that supposed to be Vicki St. Elmo in the role as the competent sidekick? MacGruber looks like it had potential, but the writers didn't even bother to think about writing this as a good movie. It's just an attempt to make money and nothing more.

I wasn't expecting much from this movie to start with and I gotta tell you, I was not disappointed. Lame jokes ( if you can call them jokes ) dry, stale humor and predictible actions take over the movie. SNL should have been taken off the air years ago and this is another reason why. The movie is so dumb in some places, you have to actually laugh for wasting $11 to see it. There are lots of better films out there and this isn't one of them. If you feel you have to, wait until you can rent it.

If you want to see the movie that would result if the screenplay was written by a group of 13-year old boys into lame jokes, random violence, and scatalogical humor, this is for you.

Of course this movie's dumb... Who in their right minds would think they are about to watch a masterpiece? It's MacGruber for crying out loud! I went into this movie with LOW expectations but hoping to laugh a couple of times, and oh my gosh did this movie deliver! There are a handfull of scenes that I found myself in tears laughing so hard. So don't rent this if you're looking for a plot, but DO rent this if you just feel like laughing. (P.S. ~ Watch the unrated version :)

i loved this movie even though it did have some bad parts but you have to like the humor of it which is a fun relaxed mood if you go into expecting something full of seriousness then you will dislike this move. Also if you loved the skit you will probably like this movie. but hey its great for something from a 90 second skit. GREAT MOVIE even if you decide to rent it which i will
