Based on the best-selling books by Suzanne Collins, THE HUNGER GAMES is the first film in the franchise. Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. 16- year-old Katniss Everdeen volunteers in her younger sister's place and must rely upon her sharp instincts when she'€™s pitted against highly trained Tributes who have prepared their entire lives. If she€'s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Just saw the movie. Never read the book but hope it was better than the movie. It was ok but for all the hype, it was kind of a let down. The story idea was good but it took me until half way through the movie to realize the undertones of the Matrix in this movie. Nice love story, the action was just so so. Was kind of a shock to see young kids getting killed in a movie. Long and drawn out but stil glad I saw it. Hope the next one is an improvement. I guess if you read the book you will be even more disappointed from the reactions I got from other movie goers. Wait for the DvD and it won't be so painful.

Good Story, a bit slow moving at times. But still Entertaining. Make sure you have at least 2 1/2 hrs available for this one.

Read the book and saw the movie opening weekend. The movie maintains the integrity of the book, which was about as intense, lively and thoughtful as you could hope for from a YA selection. Definitely worth a watch.

This movie was unique, but I felt like it was supposed, to have some lesson. that I missed. It was silly, and preposterous., overrated.

Great movie. The problems were how the camera was so unfocused from quick movement throughout the film. The movie also left out major parts in the book, such as the lenght of the hunger games in the movie is shorter than the book. I would, however, recommend this to you.

I read the book before I watched the movie. It is true that the movie leaves stuff out from the book. But every movie does. The Hunger Games is a great book i recomend it to everyone! It was my favorite movie.

I just read all three books in trilogy,in 2 days! I could not put them down, they are by far the best books I have read and when you think about what is going on in our world now it seems like we are in the time before the owrld was destroyed by greed, war, famine & natural distaser that bring Panem about. It is a violent story but they underlaying story is what is really the star. There is violence of thsi kind going on in our world everyday right now think of the war on terror they kill children without batting a eye in those countries. think of corporate greed with trillions while we have homeless in this country. this story may seem outragouse and terrible but our world is not as extreme but not far off. I cannot wait to see movie & the 2nd & 3rd books brought to life. i am glad i read books 1st i am sure movie would miss stuff had i not. i will arn though it is a emotional fueled story that leaves you drained and embeds in your mind,

A good movie but not as exciting as my co-workers said it was. I haven't read the book. I will definately rent part 2 when it comes out.

I fast forwarded through a lot of the movie as the hunting scenes seemed redundant. The ending left unsaid whether the annual Hunger Games continued in subsequent years. The TV Play by Play announcers reminded me of those in "Best of Show" but I dont think they were supposed to be funny. The movie is largely a waste of time.
