Based on the best-selling books by Suzanne Collins, THE HUNGER GAMES is the first film in the franchise. Amazing movie. I read the book and the movie was very close to the story line. Of course there were parts that were left out due to time constraints but they did an amazing job. My husband did not read the book and didn't think he would like the movie but he loved it. Lots of action, a little gore but not heavy, ok for 12+ to watch.

I enjoyed the movie, however one needs to read the book first to truly understand the plot and depth of charfacters. I have read all 3 books of the trilogy and am waiting anxiously for the second movie...Catching Fire.

I fast forwarded through a lot of the movie as the hunting scenes seemed redundant. The ending left unsaid whether the annual Hunger Games continued in subsequent years. The TV Play by Play announcers reminded me of those in "Best of Show" but I dont think they were supposed to be funny. The movie is largely a waste of time.
