In this independent comedy, Justin (Thomas Middleditch) is a twentysomething slacker who has a hard time getting out of bed before noon and works part-time mowing lawns with his buddy Wayne (Jason Rogel), who is only slightly more ambitious. Justin hears a lot from his family about making something of himself, but he doesn't pay much attention until he and Wayne check out a traveling carnival one evening. Justin meets Galaxy (Rachael Taylor), a beautiful and spunky girl who works at a dunk-tank concession, and he is so taken with her he doesn't mind when she takes his money in a fixed game. Justin unexpectedly crosses paths with Galaxy the next day, and before long he's spending most of his time with her and her fellow carnies. Has Justin finally found his destiny with Galaxy, or is he just another stop on the road for her? Also starring Lea Thompson, Christopher McDonald, and Frankie Faison, Splinterheads received its world premiere in 2009 at the South by Southwest Film Festival, where director Brant Sersen's first feature, Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story, won the Audience Award in 2004. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Just plain fun!Newcomer Thomas Middleditch is perfectly cast as Justin, and his comedic timing is right on.Rachael Taylor is,of course, gorgeous and does a good job as Justin's foil and love interest Galaxy.Certianly not an Oscar contender, but a fun movie!Sure, the story has been told a million and one times, but this is a neat take on it with an interesting background(the carnival). If you enjoy independant, unusual comedies, you'll enjoy this-watch it for what it is and don't overthink it!

Good funny movie. One of those movies you can watch with your girl and guy and have a good time.

I wasn't impressed with this one. The cast was good, but the story was lame, and I got really sick of Justin being a wuss and bumbling through all of his sentences. The formula of "the wuss who beats the bad guy in the end and gets the girl" is so overdone and was not done well in this one. I fast-forwarded through the last half of this movie.

Cute movie, entertaining. Though for a teen movie, it had too much cursing for my liking and would not allow my teen to watch it.

This movie was pretty good. Nice, mellow and at times very funny. About slacker who meets up with some carnies and slight zaniness ensues. The Amazing Steve is pretty funny character. Not as good as "Adventureland", but worth renting.

The only good thing about this movie were the parts about geochaching. Oh, yeah and Rachael Taylor is really hot. Other than that it was poorly written and had a very weak plot.

It's bad to start a review with an excuse, but for a low-budget indie film with semi-no name stars; this film is engaging, funny and has the bonus of introducing you to some new ideas (geocaching, splinter heads and the life of a carney). It never reaches an apex of hilarious or dramatic but remains entertaining. Cinematography is boring and Thomas Middleditch is a younger and taller Steve Carell wannabe, but it's worth the watch. :)
