This tense and brutal, Spanish-language crime thriller from Mexico concerns four female bank robbers (Pilar Lopez de Ayala, Ariadna Gil, Victoria Abril and Elena Anaya) whose latest heist puts them in a head-to-head clash with the local mob in Mexico City. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
Solid all-around great film. Tense, brutal scenes which kept me on the edge of my seat. Bad reviews I think represent those who get "lost in the translation and cultural nuance." They are not lost on those of us who have spent time in Latin America.
This movie could have been so much better. First, in the end, all of the characters die slowly of wounds when they could simply have gone to the hospital! It's one thing to die for a cause. But this was worse than the end of Hamlet. Neither is there redemption or revenge. The movie is slick, with very sexy stars in Ariadna Gil and Diego Luna, and some very interesting scenes with the grandmother mob boss and the "Koreans" (who apparently speak Chinese. Unfortunately Victoria Abrial is way past her prime and the victim of some scary plastic surgery. Overall it's a letdown.
Who don't like tough, smart women who are thieves. Not only that, but are beautiful and family. A good movie with a good cast. Does go back and forth, or fast forward quickly that you have to say what just happen, but it still a good movie.
An interesting movie for Diego Luna if all you have seen are his American films.
(Open Range, The Terminal) However the movie lacks depth and the characters seem to be just walking through the script. The English title is "Walking Vengeance."
