Boomerang (1992) Reviews

Boomerang (1992)
Member Rating:
Eddie Murphy plays Marcus Graham, a hotshot ad exec who's also an insatiable womanizer. He is thus hardly prepared for his new boss, Jacqueline, played by Robin Givens. In terms of things romantic, Jacqueline is nothing more or less than a female version of Marcus -- and now, for the first time, he's getting the runaround. Boomerang boasts supporting-cast contributions from Halle Berry, David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt, Geoffrey Holder, and Melvin Van Peebles. Watch closely and you'll see director Reginald Hudlin in a bit role. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

"Boomerang" is, quite frankly, a flat-out joy to watch, mostly because of two words: Robin Givens. Her seductive, sexy, stylish performance as Eddie Murphy's boss/lover Jacqueline Broyer who eventually turns the tables on him powers the film and is mostly responsible for its being a full-fledged, pulse-quickening pleasure.

One of Murphy's best comedy. A classic from start to finish.

I really did like this one. A classic, as it still works by today's standards. Like a lot of Jim Carrey star-vehicles. That guy is something special, too. A funny movie, yes. But what's really funny is that over a decade later, this thing all still holds up. This is one of the more fun featherweights from Eddie Murphy. Robin Givens, Hallie Berry, John Witherspoon, Queen Latifa, Martin Lawrence and David Allen Grier all have perfect-pitch here. A classic romantic comedy on-par with Murphy's "Coming to America." But where's Arsenio Hall? Eartha Kitt does steal her scenes, and Givens well steals most of the movie in her breakout role. Try to catch "Boomerang." DANE YOUSSEF
