In this lively adolescent-oriented musical, a city kid attempts to adapt to life in an ultra-conservative backwater Midwestern town. Once there, he ends up leading the repressed teenagers into a rebellion against the town fathers, who have outlawed rock & roll and dancing. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
This movie brings back a lot of great memories. Yes, Kevin Bacon was marvelous; however, a young Christopher "Chris" Penn (may he rest in peace) really shined and danced incredibly well in this movie!
Wow, lots of great actors in their prime and still a good movie. One warning, if you are thinking of watching this with your little one, as I did. There is a lot of fist-fighting, including one knock down drag out between the lead female and her ex-boyfriend. Nasty. I had no memory of that part at all, and wasn't thrilled since I was watching it with my 11 year old daughter. Plus the lead female is extremely self-destructive and Lori Singer looks completely anorexic. d forgotten all of that, and just remembered the dancing! lol So be warned. There is definitely a lot of stuff in here that you may wish to discuss with your kidlets afterwards and I wouldn't recommend it for under 11!)
CLASSIC ! So many young great stars that this might even be their first movie. Chris Penn looks more like his brother Sean in this movie. And Kevin Bacon has the greatest looking * (well BB won't let me tell you what looks great on Kevin - figure it out girls) This movie will have you up dancing around the room. Loved it and will watch it over & over
I really enjoyed it. I couldn't remember watching this "classic" when I was younger. Do recall all the great songs from my youth. I enjoyed the movie a lot. The extras were interesting, too. Kevin Bacon did a great job.
Classic. One of the greatest 80's movies of all-time. Kevin Bacon's breakout to stardum. If you like electric music and great dancing(for the 80's) this movie is for you. The soundtrack is fantastic to workout to.
Well, it is very dated, that's for sure. Extremely corny, but with a soundtrack you'll recognize. No wonder anorexia became more common in the 80's - the female star was emaciated. Really, a dancing skeleton.
I watched it with my teens, trying to re-live the good old days. Obviously, they weren't that good.
