A little girl helps two would-be heroes save the world from a rampaging beast in this GCI-animated feature from France. Lord Arnold was once a brave warrior who frequently did battle with the World Gobbler, a fearsome dragon who would return every five years to bring destruction to everything (and everyone) in its path. However, Arnold is growing old, his vision is failing him and he's no longer up to the challenge of battling dragons. Arnold's niece Zoe is a spunky young girl who has learned to best the tiny dragons that play in the woods and wants to move on to more ambitious game, but Arnold is wary of letting her face the beasts he's chased most of his life. Fate steps in when Zoe gets lost in the forest and a pair of opportunistic wanderers, brave Lian Chu and conniving Gwizdo, find her and attempt to return her to her uncle in hopes of a reward. As they make their way back to Lord Arnold's castle, Lian Chu and Gwizdo find they've been misidentified as a pair of knights who've come to vanquish the World Gobbler, and with Zoe's help they square off against one of the world's most powerful dragons. The voice cast for the original French release of Chasseurs de Dragons included Marie Drion, Vincent Lindon, Patrick Timsit and Philippe Nahon; for its release in English-langue territories as Dragon Hunters, Forest Whitaker, Mary Mouser, Rob Paulsen and Dave Wittenberg headlined the vocal cast. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

This is a fantastic film. My family and I were blown away by its overall creativity, lovable characters with surprising depth, and imaginative/humorous story-line. The animation was top shelf(which surprised me as I have high expectations) and the animation complemented the well-crafted plot that tells a great tale about believing in yourself in spite of what others think. To write this off as a French-made knock-off is to give bid studios too much credit and this film not enough. To claim that it relies on effects over story is to not know an excellent fairy tale. Finally, to try to claim that the film is somehow inaccessible due to it being French-made is just plain ridiculous. There was not a moment of the film that I believe any member of my family was anything but fully engaged while watching from beginning to end. While I don't think everyone will love it as much as we did, I would be surprised if the vast majority of families found this anything but delightful.

This movie is awesome. I have no idea how or why other peoples kids were bored and didn't like this movie. It's filled with action. My wife and I and my kids, 8, 6, and 4 loved it. The animation is incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and plot. I would recommend an adult watching it with kids less than 8 because some of the action scenes with monsters can be a little intense but great family movie.

The computer animation is first rate and imaginative. There are several stunning vistas, and unique creatures. But the story is underwritten--and cliche ridden. Still worth a look for fantasy fans. My 12 year old daughter liked it alot.

I heard a lot about this movie (all good). Took along time to get it by mail and it arrived broken to my dismay. I took the chance and bought a copy. I was not disappointed. It is a great movie. The only cons is it is in stereo and no subtitles. It does however have closed captions .

Ok story plot. Scenery reminds me of Witch World novels...strange. Kids might enjoy especially if they like the new cartoons on nickelodian.

My boys, age 5 and 8, really like this movie. It has a very unique and maybe somewhat strange feel to it, but has a great message overall.

File this under Movies to Watch When You're High. The whole film was like half a thought that nobody completed. Intriguing ideas, but incomplete ones.
