Pretty accurate representation of the defeat of a modern British Army by native Zulu forces.Bob Hoskins out shines the other stars in this movie. This is not a "feel good" movie.

Great movie. Couldn't find it anywhere since I was a child. Was just as good watching it all these years later. Also loved Zulu with Micheal Caine. Would love if there were more movies like this.

Good performances and well-written. I appreciated how the film highlighted some of the british arrogance and the massive failure to which that led. Definitely worth watching

For once , the natives won ! How refreshing. If Sam Peckinpah was in the director's chair, this would have been an epic ! As is, a waste of first class talent and the cast of thousands. Check out "ZULU". with a young Michael Caine.

If only some well written characters were introduced into this mammoth epic, the expertly staged battle at the end would mean much more. The camera work is oscar worthy, but the DVD is a bit grainy, and ,despite widescreen, it's not in full 2:35 to 1 ratio. The last half hour or so is as well directed as large scale battles get, but the original "Zulu" (depicting a battle that began later that same day) is far more memorable.

If you liked the 1968 "Charge of the Light Brigade," you will like this movie.

Those people who do not learn from it will surely repeat it. As most people know, it only became worse as time went on and the people found a real leader and drove the British from their land(s). The movie is somewhat out of sync with the other movies that came out about this time period. The most historic point made was the people who were the natives wanted to bring in the crops and were stopped from doing it. Otherwise the movie doesn't do much of anythng but show a lot of people dying.

As a history lesson it was fair. As a movie it was poor. If you're looking for entertainment this is not the movie for you. If you're a history buff go ahead and watch it.
