A domesticated Shrek hatches a plan to recapture his mojo and discovers what life in Far Far Away land would have been like had he never existed in this final chapter of the popular animated film series. There used to be a time when the villagers would run in terror at the mere mention of the name Shrek, but these days the big green ogre is married to Princess Fiona and raising triplets. Maintaining your fierce public persona is no simple task when you're juggling infants and changing diapers, so when Shrek realizes that nobody is afraid of him anymore he recruits mischief-maker Rumpelstiltskin to restore his once-mighty roar. Unfortunately for Shrek, that plan hits an unexpected hitch. As a result, the morose monster takes a trip into an alternate-universe Far Far Away land where there is no Shrek, and Rumpelstiltskin reigns. There, Donkey spends his days hauling carts, and a portly Puss in Boots prefers lounging to swashbuckling. Perhaps with a little extra effort, Shrek will be able to regain his status as top ogre in town and still have his happily ever after, too. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Being a big "Shrek" fan, I knew I had to see this fourth installment in the theaters. However, between the disappointment I had when I saw "The Third," the mixed critical reviews and the rather unappealing trailers, I went into this film with low expectations. Thank god those expectations were exceedingly surpassed. The magic and charm of "Shrek" has returned in "Forever After." Hallelujah!

I enjoyed all of the Shrek movies. This one was also good but not the best of the bunch. Most will find it enjoyable but I have to rate it worst of the bunch.

At first the movie starts a bit slow. I thought they had ruined it. Then about 30 minutes in, something happened, I was hooked. The movie is packed with love, action, fairy tales and everything that is Shrek, but this time they outdid themselves. shrek makes a deal with the devil, well sort of, rumplestilskin. Shrek gets tired of married life and wished things would go back to the way they were and he gets his wish, only things don't quite work out. Laughs abound ( look for the big gay ogre ). Shrek gets to once again save Fiona and this time it affects the entire kingdom. Watch for sure.

I have to say I had low expectations for this one (Especially after the mixed reviews). I was pleasantly surprised however, at how much I enjoyed this fourth and final Shrek. It was funny, and had a great story! While there are allot of gross-out gags there is also a nice moral in the story. It was not as funny as previous Shrek's, however, the story more then made up for the flaws. Be warned that the movie does start a little slow. After the first 15 minutes or so I was pretty sure Shrek would end on a sad note, however, the movie does pick up. Overall, a highly enjoyable, fun, entertaining, and funny final chapter to one of the greatest, if not the greatest, children's fantasy story of the decade. 8/10

Just got back from taking my 3 and 5 year old. They loved it and I have to say so did I. Lots of laughs and a great original story so it doesn't feel like they are making this for the sake of making it. Same style as previous 3 with kid and adult humor. Great ending to the series and another one I am sure I will see about twenty more times when it hits video, and be good with it.
