Directed by TV veteran Darnell Martin, the musical drama Cadillac Records documents the compelling true-life story of the Chicago record label that helped the world discover such legendary artists as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, and Chuck Berry. Founded in 1950 by Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody), Chess Records quickly gained a reputation as home to some of the most talented and influential blues artists ever to step into a recording studio. But giving these musicians an opportunity to bring their music to the world was no easy task, because along the way there was enough sex, drugs, and rock & roll to ensure that things around Chess Records never got boring. This was a very enjoyable movie, especially for someone who's into music. See my musical heroes come to life and a believable story about them and the beginnings of their careers and Chess Records was great. I recommend this film for musicians like me and people that just enjoy a good story and fantastic music.

Interesting take on the cradle days of Rock N' Roll; but when I watch a film and feel nothing or, worse, distaste for the characters, the film has little appeal except as a cautionary tale.

I have to say I was a bit skeptical at first. I loved the music! but I had doubts about how accurate the story would be. I have to say that I was relatively impressed. The story was handled repsectfully without a whole lot of sugarcoating.

Finally got a chance to see this movie. Actually it was pretty good. Actors all did a great job. Amazing how money can turn good people into somebody totally different.

This movie was one of the best period pieces that I have seen for the blues and the start of 'rock-and-roll'. The acting was superb and the actors for the most part fit into their roles like the real people that they were portraying. You will want to see this one if only to hear the music.

Overall a good biopic. I thought Beyonce was fantastic as Etta James- she showed range I didn't expect and her voice is phenomenal. I felt the opposite about Mos Def as Chubby Checker. For a biopic there should be at least some physical resemblence to the original character and I just couldn't suspend disbelief that much. Overall, entertaining but not a great film.
