Hattie Morahan, Charity Wakefield, and Dominic Cooper star in screenwriter Andrew Davies' adaptation of the classic Jane Austen tale of love and class conflict. Marianne Dashwood (Wakefield) has fallen deeply in love with John Willoughby (Cooper), yet despite their feelings for one another the wealthy Willoughby is considered an improper suitor for the financially destitute girl. Marianne's sister Elinor (Morahan)'s pleads with her sibling to end the romance or risk becoming the subject of gossip in their chatty social circle, all the while struggling to suppress her own romantic disappointment. So how does one find happiness in a society where the rules are set according to status and money? Perhaps a winning mix of sense and sensibility is the key to striking a harmonious balance, and living a life without regrets.

Ok...I am not as lavish as some and I can not say that I have alot of class but OMG This was the best movie that I have seen in so very long. I was completely breathless by the end. I couldn't even talk. I found it to be exciting in every way. I am glad that I finally watched something with class!

Loved this version, it is extremely well acted, filmed, and beautiful to watch. You will not be disappointed if you are a Jane Austen fan, even my husband enjoyed this. I hated to see it end and will probably buy it for my collection.

This movie is my favorite version of Sense& Sensibility. The acting is superb. This version has more character development than any other version I've seen and it has great scenery as well. I would defintely recommend it.

This version is exceptional ~ in every way. The acting, the costuming, the scenery, the writing...I love everything about it. I also love the Emma Thompson version, but for a change of pace, same story but another's view ~ a wonderful version, extremely enjoyable!!

This is my favorite version of Sense and Sensibility. The actresses are just right, and the movie is not too long or to short to cover the story. The screenwriter did a terrific job of sticking to what Austen wrote without butchering the spirit of the novel. In fact, certain parts that were glossed over in the novel are brought to life in the movie. There are some lovely seaside scenes and a nice musical score, all of which give the movie a very nice tone overall. FYI, the entire movie is on Disc 1. On Disc 2 is a short BBC film as well as a four-part radio show, both about Jane Austen's life. If you're a hardcore Austen fan, you will enjoy what's on Disc 2, especially the film, which is very well-made and entertaining.

It was delightful from beginning to end and very well acted. Alexander keeps you wanting to know what happened next. The actors stay very true to their characters and express the underlying tensions that they feel very well. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
