This was a Great movie. Although Golda died in 1974 while I was still a child, I had been curious as to just who she was. This movie really lets you see the intelligent, strong, woman that she was. I would have loved to have met her. If you like anything regarding history of Israel and when Israel became a nation , you will find a lot of it in this movie.

A poignant postscript to this wonderful movie: it was Ingrid Bergman's last, as she would shortly succumb to cancer. But she played her role to the hilt, with great affection for Golda Meir, also a cancer victim. In retrospect, I wonder if the many cigarettes Bergman smoked in the film hastened her death. Judy Davis was also superb as the young Golda. I thought it was amazing that both women spoke in the same cadence, making you really believe you were seeing and hearing the same person at different stages of her remarkable life.

Highly recommend. Not only are there superb actors but the political story is factually accurate and it provides an entertaining manner to learn some history about the beginnings of Israel, the conflicts then gives a better understanding of the present day conflicts..

Our two older girls, 10 and 8 loved this movie. The 10 year old wanted to watch it over again. They were surprised by the fact that Golda was a chain smoker, but it gave some very valuable lessons to their budding lives. We have a destiny to fulfill...what will that be? What sacrifices will we have to make along the way? What about doing something because it's right, but we don't want to do it? What is the role of a woman? Very thought provoking and excellent acting. We only had to fast forward through a few parts which were too scary for them. All in all...it was a wonderful movie and a great history lesson.

An exceptional film. Great acting by Ingrid Bergman and Judy Davis. This is I think the third time I've seen this and I would love to own a copy. The story of Golda Meir is very compelling and Ingrid Bergman is very convincing as Golda.

Well worth watching--not a high action film but very well done and informative although likely a romanitcized version of the history of Israel. The Palistinians definitely have a different perspective . One of the episodes that is missing is the Munich Olympics and her sending out the boys to avenge the death of the Israeli athletes. they kill a lot of the responsible parties and even an innocent mistaken for one of the responsible parties.
