When a powerful force of supernatural evil threatens to destroy Hyboria, legendary Cimmerian warrior Conan (Jason Momoa) raises his sword against mythical monsters and treacherous enemies. Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan, Stephen Lang, and Rachel Nichols co-star in a sweeping fantasy adventure based on the character created by Robert E. Howard, and directed by Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th). ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I have to admit my opinion of this movie is without having smoked a bowl of hashish, which might have made it a little better. Otherwise, it's better then watching your clothes dry.
This was actually a very interesting movie. I thought it was just a "Hey we are Hollywood and we have run out of ideas so we are doing a remake!" movie.
But as it turns out it could actually be a prequel to the original Conan starting Arnie da Govenator.
The movie is full of violence and gore. But it is part of the story of a barbarians life. I liked it but your mileage may vary!
If you did not see the original, then this is a good movie. If you saw the original and can pretend this is NOT a Conan movie, then this is a good movie. If you try to compare this to the original, you will be disappointed.
First of all any remake of an Arnold movie will never live up to the legend of Arnold. The movie was what one would expect, miminal plot line and tons of sword fighting. Don't rush out to see this one.
Not A Bad Movie At All.. But The Story Is Full Of Loop Holes,Or Flaws.. What Makes This Movie Stand Out Isnt The Acting.. But The Action* Its Action Packed,That's What Makes This Movie So Entertaining.. Sword Fight After Sword Fight.. The Only Thing I Found Dumb Was That Sea Monster They Threw In.. Digitized,I Felt Like It Wasn't Needed.. Didnt Mesh Well.. Anyway The Movie Is Entertaining For The Action.. Aspect
This remake was done and done well. This is the Conan I read about in all those novels I'd pick up at the bookstore. Good SFX and fight scenes. All the actors were very well picked including the boy in the beginning. My only gripe about the movie was that they should've chosen a more mainstream actor to play the main villain. Hard to fill James Earl Jones' shoes but they should've tried to find someone with more presence. Other than that, I really enjoyed this movie and I think Jason Momoa did an awesome job as Conan.
Long before the seas swallowed Atlantis, during the lost Hyborean age. A warrior named Conan, born amid fierce battle seeks revenge on the fanatical warlord who murdered his father.
If you've seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail, you'll understand the blood-letting in this film. Ron Pearlman is about the only actor that did his job. Momoa was fair. Rachel Nichols did a good job as well as Rose McGowan - she's rather spooky. All in all, 1.5 stars and that only for the action. The story line was weak and very predictable.
This movie sucked. Hollywood felt that old fashioned sword fights were not good enough. Everything had to be acrobatic or humanly impossible. Even the sword used by the main bad guy is Hollywood BS. Something you would expect in a Transformers movie. The schwarzenegger version was much better. I had high hopes for this movie but I saw it in the theater and felt ripped off.
