Boarding House (1983) Reviews

Boarding House (1983)
Member Rating:
This lurid, shot-on-video splatter epic centers on a suburban home with a gory past, purchased by a swinging psychic hedonist with a fascination for the occult who immediately turns the place into a decadent all-girl boarding house. No sooner do his nubile tenants begin stripping down for the pool, shower, or bed before a black-clad interloper begins chopping, stabbing, gouging and sawing them to bits. With a budget approaching the 3-digit mark, this sex and gore fiesta is nonetheless enthusiastic in its desire to throw an amazing amount of stage blood and sheep intestines at the viewer, and features an amusing, William Castle-type gimmick effect (described in an appropriately spooky intro voiceover as "Horrorvision") which flashes multicolored lights whenever a gory scene is about to take place. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

I watched online a while back since I love horror movies especially 80s slashers. Even the low budget horror flicks are usually somewhat entertaining to me. I can't believe this movie will be on DVD. This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It had a lot of characters but the worse level of acting, filming, and camera work I have ever seen. Not good, just a warning. I usually give generous ratings for horror flicks but I couldn't for this, it was that bad.

I remember renting this movie on VHS 25 years ago when it first came out. The only reason I still remember it is that every time a gory scene would happen, a hand would flash in front of the screen with flashing lights. This movie was so bad I still laugh at it to this day. I may just rent it again to get another good laugh.

THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST 80'S LOW BUDGET CHEESE FEST I HAVE EVER SEEN! THE KILLER SOUNDS LIKE HE IS HELPING HIS WIFE IN LAMAZE CLASS! A WOMAN HANGS HERSELF WITH A PANTY HOSE. THE CAMCORDER USED IN THIS FILM MUSTVE BEEN STOLEN FROM A BLIND ALCOHOLIC STREET BUM ON THE STREETS OF NYC. THE AUDIO WAS HORRIBLE ON THIS FILM, AND THE DIRECTOR WANTED IT THIS WAY! I HAVE SO MANY LOW BUDGET MOVIES, BUT NOTHING CAN COMPARE ON HOW CHEESY THIS ONE IS. I COULDN'T EVEN WATCH IT! I FASTFORWARDED IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND PULLED OUT THE DVD. IT WAS LIKE WATCHING SOME CHEAP SKIN FLICK AND THE HORROR WAS CHEESE OVERLOAD. I HOPE NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY RENTS THIS MOVIE. I AM A FAN OF CHEESE, BUT THIS REALLY RUINED MY APPETITE. OH PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STAY AWAY IN ALL THINGS THAT ARE HOLY OR CHEESY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the cheesiest movie I've ever rented - and I've rented a *lot* of cheesy movies. It looks like it was filmed with an 80's era camcorder - seriously. This was ridiculously bad and I can't believe it was put on DVD without being part of a 10 Worst Movies series or something.

This is nothing but a bunch of porn stars/crew trying to make a satanic thriller. All you get is the bad story line, terrible acting, jumpy script........AND NO PORN! This is nothing but laughable. If you're looking for a turkey, here he is!
