A ghostwriter stumbles onto a secret that places his life in danger as he takes down the life story of a former U.K. prime minister in this Roman Polanski-helmed adaptation of the Robert Harris novel. Convinced by his agent that he's been granted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, talented British screenwriter "The Ghost" (Ewan McGregor) agrees to aid British prime minister Adam Lang (Pierce Brosnan) in completing his memoirs after the leader's former aide dies under mysterious circumstances. Almost immediately after The Ghost arrives at a remote mansion in the U.S. to begin working with the prime minister, Lang is accused of committing a war crime by a former British cabinet minister. Amidst a deluge of protestors and reporters, The Ghost delves into the unfinished manuscript and comes to the terrifying conclusion that his predecessor died because he discovered a link between Prime Minister Lang and the CIA. The more information The Ghost uncovers, the more convinced he becomes that his life could be in danger as well. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

An edge of your seat conspiracy thriller. This film is superbly acted and has some thought provoking material. Master director Roman Polanski is in top form for this one. Ewan McGregor is also in top form. Seeing this film only further solidifies my opinion that Ewan McGregor is extremely underrated as an actor. The Supporting cast features Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Williams and Tom Wilkinson. They all do a great job in there roles as well. Overall, one of the best, intelligent, well thought out suspense thrillers I have seen in years (Possibly the best). Highly recommended, 9.5/10

Terrific movie with Hitchcock drama. One of the best movies I've seen this year. The acting by McGregor was outstanding. Without a doubt this is one of Polanski's best films - right up there with Chinatown.

I really can't believe this movie got so many positive reviews on this site. I usually rent movies that I'm not familiar with based on these reviews and this is the first time I've been disappointed. My comments have nothing to do with Polanski and what he did in the past - it is strickly based on the movie itself. If you are expecting an action packed mystery/suspense, this one is NOT it! There is not much "myster" and It is difficult to even pick out any "suspense." Very boring and not worh the time. I think I may have turned off one or two movies in my time before the end - I am sorry to say that I watched this one through.
