Brad Pitt and Sean Penn have both been insulted by being included in this horrific film. I can't believe we actually sat thru the whole thing. The "2001 moment", although interesting from a special effects point of view, didn't help or make sense at all. This is right up there with one of these WORST movies of all time. Poorly told story, made little sense at all. It was like reading a poem written by a lunatic.

Amazing cinematography and good music. The actual story is interesting as well but it takes a while to figure out where this movie is going then before you know it, you are wondering where it went.

Waste of time. I was thinking this movie would be good since it was mentioned in the Oscar buzz, but was I mislead. This movie has some stunning visual scenes, but overall the movie was a complete dud. Painful to watch, as we fast forwarded thru scenes to make it end.

I guess that I must just not be worthy of such an intellectual effort. If the main message is that Life is not Fair and that Fathers subject their Family to behavior born of frustration and anger, then I get it after all. A real struggle to appreciate. But beautiful.

I was not expecting an action movie, so I do not have that bias. I enjoy intelligent films. But this movie just could never get off the ground. Dialogue was non-existent. A plot was hard to find. No need for much acting. It was like viewing various different incoherent dream sequences and trying to piece them together. Yes, it is deep, so deep you'll never find your way out of it.

This is was one the best films of 2011. It is deep and thoughtful, and quite long if you are not in the mood for it. People trashing this movie obviously felt like watching an action movie instead so they are taking it out on this film. You have to be in the proper mood to watch this. There are no explosions, action scenes, fight scenes, or other typical modern day nonsense. It is an excellent film and if you are feeling introspective and relaxed, you will be able to percieve its richness and beauty. If you want an action movie, this is not for you. It is an excellent film however, but you must be in the proper mindset to view it.
