What's Love Got to Do With It? is the filmed biography of R&B/pop singer Tina Turner (Angela Bassett), documenting her efforts to break away from her abusive husband Ike (Laurence Fishburne). After a few scenes detailing Tina's life as a young singer in Nutbush, TN, she's discovered by Ike Turner, an already established songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. i have seen this movie over twenty times.one of my top ten movies of all time.both leading actors should have gotten awards for their outstanding performances.just listening to the dialogue from another room ,will make u come and sit down to look at at the movie .never a dull moment.a masterpiece !!!!!!

This is a movie that I never can get tired of. I loved this movie from start to finish and it is non-stop drama. I love Angela Bassett she is a EXCELLENT actress and Lawrence Fishburne is a EXCELLENT actor. I recommend this to anyone, has a very good lesson behind it to. A true must see. If I could give it more stars, I would.

I love this movie and the acting in it. I love and respect Tina turner. Well put together movie. Good actors. Really makes you understand her life and where she got her strenth and determenation from. All the actors in that film were good. Can watch this over and over.

This is definitely my all-time favorite musical bio movie. The music, obviously, is thrilling, and Angela Bassett's and Laurence Fishburne's performances are absolutely stellar. What a great "human spirit" story!

I gave this movie 5 starts because once again Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett gave a fantastic performance, however, its not necessarily cohesive with the facts. Especially since Tina Turner had already had a baby by the saxaphone player before she and Ike got together. In the movie it makes it seem like Ike was the first time she was with someone. There are a few other hiccups in the movie that do not coinside with the true life of Tina, but the acting was phenomenal

I think that this movie gives us great insight to the woman behind the legend. In the movie, it shows that the terrible things that Tina survived just made her stronger and enhanced her awesome talents. Angela is believable in her role as Tina and Laurence makes us dislike Ike just as we should
