Typical teenager Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) embraces his incredible destiny after uncovering one of his father's most carefully guarded secrets as Columbia Pictures reboots the Spider-Man franchise with the help of director Mark Webb ((500) Days of Summer) and screenwriter James Vanderbilt (Zodiac). Sally Field, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, and Emma Stone co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I have to say that this new version is a lot more serious than the older ones. The old ones were just plain cheesy. This one was intense, believable, and very much in touch with the struggles one would experience having lost the ones he loves and the resulting anger.
I watched it in 3D and it was great, but it is not one of those movies that depends on being 3D. Awesome and convincing action and actors!
Movie was good. Believable but some scenes didn't make any sense. Since when does Spidey need help swing around to get to a destination. He lives in downtown Manhattan. Buildings are everywehere. He doesn't need help from construction workers to get around. Bah!!! Besides that it was a good movie
This is the movie that should of been made of Spider-man. I mean don't get me wrong, I like Sam Raimi's Spider-man and Spider-man 2 but they were also a bit cartoonish and cheesy and then Spider-man 3 was just awefull. The Amazing Spider-man to me is more like the original comics and was well crafted together with more darkness and seriousness to it. This Peter Parker is more true and funner instead of Raimi's/Tobey's Peter Parker who was a bit of a puss and cheesy. Andrew Garfield was more convincing and fun to watch as Peter Parker/Spider-man. The plot is also great and the action is well crafted and not over done like the previous Spider-man movies. Its dark, its drama, its serious and its fun to watch. I hope they make more like this one and keep continueing it.
Incredible. I didnt think it was possible, but this movie surpasses Sam Raimi's take on the franchise. What a ride you are on throughout. I dont want to give anything away, but if you are a fan of spider-man, action movies, or movies in general, I would recommend this movie to you. This Spider-Man movie was so great it was..........Dare I say.........Amazing!?
I am sorry for that, but seriously, go to the theater to see this one, rent it when it comes out, and watch it when it eventually makes it to cable. This movie is just that good.
This was a well done, well acted movie, with lots of action, a little romance and a hero for anyone. You can't help rooting for Spiderman and learning about "how Spiderman came to be" and wore the mask he wore. Not highly intellectual but highly entertaining. Very well done.
A bit silly with the teenage behaviour of the new Spiderman, but some interesting effects and other story lines. Some slow spots where they tried to flesh out the story but not to bad a version
The only redeeming qualities for this movie are that the visuals are an improvement over the Sam Raimi movies, but that's to be expected since those were made 5 years prior. Other than that, this is a really bad movie. Andrew Garfield is a terrible Peter Parker; he plays the part as a weird, quirky, jittery eccentric who just annoys the hell out of you rather than commanding sympathy. The story's pacing was terrible and left out parts necessary to justify the plot, and the parts they did take time to focus on were corny. And worst of all: no J.J. Jamieson.
