In this comedy about a doctor-patient relationship pushed way beyond the office, Bill Murray plays Bob Wiley, a neurotic New Yorker struggling with a whirlwind of paralyzing phobias. When an exasperated colleague pawns the handful off on Dr. Leo Marvin (Richard Dreyfuss), the psychologist has no idea his last appointment will follow him north to New Hampshire on a month's vacation. Bob takes to Dr. Marvin's latest book like no therapy before it, so the well-meaning pest tracks Marvin down at his lakeside summer home to further discuss his problems. But Marvin, preparing for an interview on Good Morning America and a few weeks of R and R, views Bob's stalking as highly inappropriate, and demands he return to New York. But Bob can't take even the strongest hint, and sets up camp with a neighbor to indulge in his own "vacation" -- from his problems. Meanwhile, Marvin's son Sigmund (Charlie Korsmo), daughter Anna (Catherine Erbe), and wife Fay (Julie Hagerty) take to Bob's loopy charm, which Marvin views as an irritating threat. Marvin's temperature rises as Bob insinuates his way into the family, helping Sigmund learn to dive and counseling the previously ignored Anna. As Bob's stock continues to rise, and his to plummet, Marvin becomes increasingly unhinged as the minutes tick down to the interview. ~ Derek Armstrong, Rovi

Love It! Absolutely hilarious! Bill Murray is an annoying, crazy, interloping mess. Richard Dreyfus is his once level headed doctor until Bill pushes him over the edge.

Bill Murray is a gret comedy actor and it so enjoyable to watch him from time to time. He was both irritating and ingratiating. The situations he created were hilarious. The end of the movie bothered me somewhat.

Ah for the days of yesteryear when Bill Murray actually made funny movies. Several of Bill's latest movies (Life Aquatic, Lost in Translation) have been real dogs but this movie is Bill at his best. There are lots of laughs in this one.

Bill Murray is at home playing this neurotic but loveable loony tune !! The movie drives home the fact that we tend to isolate mentally ill folks - when if you look around, the entire world of "normals" is even MORE psychotic than THEM ! Love the "Good Morning America" interview ! Murray is deeee-lightful !

I love a good comedy, but this is annoyingly horrible. Don't let the cast list fool you. The story goes on and on and only grates my nerves and annoys me further. The story is just terrible and seriously not funny. The writing is just plain outrageous, it makes me despise every character in the film. There's a fine line between endearing and annoying, this movie tried for the first and landed on the second. I found myself wanting to toss the TV out the window with each minute. Hard to believe Billy Murray was involved - he did well with what he was handed I'll give it that.

Bill Murray is just simply the best comedian out there. He grows on you, he makes you laugh, he doesn't have to offend or use foul language or disgusting situations to do it. He is absolutely the best and this comedy is one of his best.
