In yet another ostensible thriller about deadly germs wreaking havoc on human life and psyches, this is a frenetic, uneven story about germs going berserk in a sealed-off lab, giving rise to infected humans more berserk than the germs. The lab is secretly developing weapons of biological warfare, and when an accident occurs that immediately seals off the building, it looks as though some of the workers have died from their exposure to the invisible killers. But, lo and behold, these apparent corpses leap up from death and, rabidly homicidal, they can hardly wait to kill off any human in their vicinity. This makes the potential victims about as vicious as their attackers in their need to escape from room to room, turning the lab into a kind of asylum for the homicidally insane. No wonder that chief cop Cal Morse (Sam Waterston) has a job and a half on his hands -- made worse because his girlfriend (Kathleen Quinlan) is in there with the loonies. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
I have not seen this film in years. I recently watched it and it's still as kick butt as I remember. This film is not Oscar good though and it's a sort of cheesy horror 80's film .. but I say better than most of the cheesy sci-fi horror of the 80's. This film looks to have been inspired by George Romero's The Crazies and in turn may have inspired Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later. A worthy rental I say.
Considering the age of this movie, and the era it was made in, the plot is a very viable scenerio. The acting is decent, and a very credible performance by Kathleen Quinlan. The story rivals Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman, and the tense dramatics add to the plot. Only thing I can fault is the make up, as this was a low budget film made about 20 some odd years ago. Great movie to watch and wonder at!
I enjoyed this film, and if your not spoiled to mega budget flicks, or big name stars, and you enjoy bio-hazard type Sci-fi, then you should too.
It is a bit slower then the more modern movies, and it does take about 20 minutes to really get started, but give it that, and then you should be into it. It's no where near the same caliber as say Silkwood, but it's got it's moments. Some good suspense sequences, and a few jump scares. Think of it like this if it was going to be made today, it wouldn't get the theatrical treatment, but would be a darn good made for T.V. flick.
I'm one who believes science fiction should be set within the realm of possibility. Theoretically, Star Trek's warp drive is possible; not probable, but possible. Warning Signs stretched this realm a bit too much and relied instead on gore and horror to carry the plot. Sam Waterson and Kathleen Quinlan are pretty good actors. Too bad the director didn't cash in on this young talent.
I don't know what these people were smoking but this was the worst movie I have EVER seen! The title says is all! It was actually painful to watch! The worst story line and absolute worst acting ever! I just watched it and felt compeled to WARN others of this movie - DO NOT waste your time! Now, I am off to hang myself so that I never have to go through another painful experience like this again! RIP
Whoever wrote the synopsis of this movie wasn't paying attention; it's a good, well paced well acted story and, ahem, Waterston's and Quinlan's characters are married. A nice little B-movie gem.
The start of the movie where the virus spill happens is a bit cheesy but the rest of the storyline was good.It had good acting too.To do a quick summary of the stoy, its a case of human rabies that is airborn.I can recomend this one if you want a decent horror flick but seen most everything then this is the movie for you.
