Veteran character actor James Hong wore two hats on The Vineyard as star and director. The scene is a remote island, dominated by a large, rambling vineyard. Mysterious Japanese vintner Hong gives his product an extra kick with a "special ingredient." The results: Immortality for Hong . . . and an army of vino-besotted zombies. In case you get tired of the violence in The Vineyard, there's also plenty of sex and nudity to keep you awake. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
As "B" movies go, this one could have been a lot worse. Of course...it COULD have been a lot better as well. The plot was just interesting enough to keep me from turning it off. There were a lot of things which were left for the viewer to assume when they would have been more easily understood if they could have just been explained. The acting is about par for "B" movies. This one would probably be best enjoyed if you've been drinking a little bit and you have a natural inclination towards this sort of stuff.
Cool story and idea, but terribly executed. 80's silliness and some gore might keep some folks entertained, but overall most of you could probably do without this one.
Terrible film. I remember watching this movie when i was alot younger, a very young man when a good horror flick was enjoyed, and was too young to care about budgets and special effects and what not...... yet this movie was still a huge dissapointment! An absolute waste of time and money
